I've been the "what if we ..." guy for as long as I've been around.  Disappointment from season to season has never deterred me.  And the only time I've been truly bereft and thought things were as hopeless as they could be was when Collier didn't get fired but lost Spinelli as an assistant and couldn't find a replacement for him until he hired Jamel White's uncle who was otherwise unemployed or something at the time and then Aleks Maric decided to throw his name in for the draft and we had no recruits and ... that was as low as I've ever felt as a Husker hoops fan.  Nothing since has remotely compared.  I can deal with Standhardinger leaving and Doc having a bad season that gets him fired and not getting Roburt Sallie qualified and everything else.  Losing to PSU?  Meh.

NOTHING made me feel as low and depressed about our prospects as that summer before Collier resigned.  Compared to that?  I'm happy.  Even if we drop one we hoped we'd win.  Even if we lose tonight, I know the sun also rises.

Dreams have been crushed for last 15 years with most of you on that mentality. One game at a time is how I roll as I used to dream with all of you. Still would love to meet a bigger fan than me but shattered dreams get old.

Lets have a blast tonight and then get ready to blow up this board in 4 hours!

Gbr!

I highly doubt that your one game at a time mentality has made the horrible defeats any less painful. The only way it becomes less painful is if you don't care as much anymore, like me with Nebraska football.

I have no end of trouble trying to reconcile the fact that Northwestern is by far the worst KenPom team in the league, yet here they are sitting at 4-4 with wins @Wisconsin and @Indiana.

The two just simply don't compute.

Upsets happen.  They played way over their heads in a couple games.  Doesn't mean it is expected to continue going forward.  Vegas certainly in agreement.  Easily the worst club in the league.

Yup, they're pretty bad.

They play a slow pace of game where they get teams down to their level.

In that sort of dog fight, all they need to do is hit some 3s, and you have an upset.

That's how you can be terrible and still win games.

It's also how you lose to Iowa by a combined 50 something points.

6 of our next 10 games are against sub-74 KenPom teams...our current ranking.

To say that Nebraska could finish 10-8 or better in the conference is not very probably but at this point it's also far from implausible.

Mathematically speaking, it wouldn't take a miracle.

The original premise holds up.

Chris Collins doing a helluva job. Cause that easily worst team keeps getting road wins against decent teams.

I just want to go into that Wisconsin game 8-9. Win games you're favored in and steal one of those three less tough road games. Anything else is a major super bonus.

We're still pretty young, which makes winning all the games you're supposed to that much tougher.

I sense some sarcastic intent here.  You can keep believing that NW is good if you want.  I will continue to be correct in believing they are easily the worst team.  Not close.  Ask yourself who you would most want to play in the Big 10 tourney if we knew we needed one win to secure a bid.  If you tell yourself it is anyone but them you are quite simply making a horrific determination.

Probably need to get to that 19 win mark to make it happen. That's a tall hill to climb.

I get what you're saying, but at this moment in the season the results speak for themselves. However, feel free to bump this thread back up at the end of the season if (probably "when") they tank.

I don't think they will finish last.  I do think they are easily the worst team though.  Two completely different things.
