With all the negativity floating around this board right now, I'll do my best to pump some sunshine into this wonder husker basketball community. :)  The way I see this season, there are 2 huge stretches for how this team will do this season in conference play, and luckily we have not quite arrived at them. The first stretch that could really get us some momemtum is the stretch from Jan 23 to Feb 12 where we play:

@ PSU

VS MIN

VS IND

@ MICH

@ NW

VS ILL

And yea, while a lot of us here (including me) have been upset with some of our play recently, lets not forget that our boys showed resilency by coming back and almost shocking a really good Iowa team who upset Wisconsin, playing the national runner- ups neck and neck for 40 minutes, and almost taking down a Purdue team that beat what was supposed to be a decent Illinois team tonight. A win vs Penn State and getting a home win vs Minny I think could have the potential to put us on a nice little streak, as long as this team plays together of course, which at this point might be more unlikely to happen than actually happening ;)  Anyways, the next stretch of games that will really decide things for us stretches from Feb 20 to March 5 where wew play:

VS PSU

VS PUR

@ ILL

VS NW

@ IND

the games I am leaving out are of course OSU coming up, at MSU. and home vs Wisky since I dont think we really have a snowballs chance and hell of winning. With that said, that still leaves us with 11 games that I could legitimately see going either way, regardless of how we play of course. I truly believe this team has the talent to win the majority of these games. That being said, do they have the discipline or heart? we will have to see. But come on guys...it not armegeddon quite yet ;)

I have thought and even posted about this before.  I'm 100% with you.  When I first saw our schedule to start the year I thought at this point we would be 1-3, 2-2 at best.  The Michigan game to this point is the one that really stings because it was at home, and because of how we lost.  If we could have gotten through this tough stretch with a few wins, I could have seen this team actually really surprising people this year. With that said, I still think there are a LOT of wins to be had by this team. Especially at home.  If we can somehow steal a win or two at say NW and PSU, we can still win our fair share of games.  I know on paper people think PSU will be easy....but PSU is not a bad team and if you look at their scores at home, they stay in every game.

But if we can somehow take care of home court, we can still win a good amount of games and I really believe this.  Again, the Michigan game just haunts me as I think had we won that, we maybe even win at Purdue.  And if we were 2-2 through that stretch....man, I'd be excited as can be knowing we have some winnable games on the schedule still.

Or, maybe Illinois, did you see Purdue rolled them in Champaign last night?

As long as our players can hang in there and stay focused, I believe we have a shot to win a fair amount of games in conference play this year. Winning like 7 of those games shouldn't be out of the question

Not going out on a limb here, but, we'll win a couple we should lose, & lose MANY more that we could win. I've seen everyone else in the Conference play by now, and yes we match up with most. BUT until we win, and start believing we can win, it's really all just conversation.

I will bite.  I could use some sunshine.  I will try to be optimistic.  I think you listed every game we have a decent shot at winning.

I think we could reasonably go 3-3 in the first 6.

In the second bunch we could hope to go 3-2.

That would get us to 14 wins and a losing season.  But if we somehow go 4-2 in the first bunch and then steal a win in the B1G tournament that would get us to our magic number of 16 and the NIT.

If we go 15-17 we might make the CBI if Miles would allow us to go.

I will hope for the CBI.

I see 13-18 or 12-19 as a more likely record sadly.

There's more wins for the taking this year, but this team is also not as good at getting them. Last year's team was just more dialed in as a squad and had much better leadership.

I predicted 4 wins in conference for this season, and even I think that was a bit low. I think we can still take about 6 games. But the guys just have to learn a bit faster and not get too down. If we can take 6 wins this year, that sets up this young team for a solid run next year, which is the year they'll need to get it done.

This is a serious question, other seems to share you opinion so I will ask the board,

why is 6 wins better than 4 or 2?  Neither gets into the post season and unless we find 7 wins somewhere we are going to have a worse season record wise than last year.

Because it is.  Haven't you been watching the AT&T commercials?

What's better?  Better, or not better?

Because you play to win the game.
