this feels like one of those riddles you have to answer correctly to get into the old tomb, and if you don't, your nuts are impaled by little mai tai umbrellas.

so, given the stakes, i'm taking the sure bet: they both lead their teams in scoring?

Red team was lead in scoring by Smith.  Pitchford lead the whites.  What they have in common is that they're both bigs.

A common theme that I've read on comments on this board leading up to and after the scrimmage is that the bigs will be an area of weakness for the team this year.  If the scrimmage results are any indication, though, that might not be the case at all.

Pitchford had 10 points.  Smith had 9.  They each hit a trey and Pitchford also hit a freethrow.  I believe they each hit 3 other FGs.  Pitchford had a couple of dunks in there.  But Smith had a couple of back-to-the-basket post moves that he scored on.  These guys aren't without some skill and ability and they're certainly more athletic than anyone we had at that position last year.  I'm not convinced it's as much of a weakness as some other seem to think it will be.

The concern is defensively and you just made the case ;)

also the depth of big men is an area of weakness.

I think Pitch and Smith will play important roles for this team, but I surmise that their roles will not be identical.  Smith is likely a stronger back to the basket player that will pop out for an occasional 15' jump shot, but more often than not, when he steps out it will be to set a pick.  At one point in the srimmage, Smith hoisted a three and Miles was quick to remind him not to fall in love with that shot.

Walter can play back to the basket, but he appears much more comfortable in space.  I see Walter more active away from the post, and then perhaps flashing there...in fact, if Shavon and Walter are on the floor at the same time, I see Walter taking his man out into space and Shavon posting in the key.

Vooch, may play a bit more of a role this year, but man, he still appears lost more often than not.  I still see Tyrance playing more of role than Vooch at this point.

I'm speculating that the ROI on Vooch kicks in in year 5.  That's when he'll see the benefits of all his hard work in the weight room and at the training table and during his redshirt year will really start to pay off.

Since this is a thread about food, I'll wager a jar of salsa he's not here 5 years.

Yep.  Never said he would be.  So, can I accept your bet by agreeing with you?

I never said you said he would be.  So, no you can't accept my bet by agreeing with me.

That is so not fair.
