trickey Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 It won't be a list (unless a list can be just one team.) He's going to commit. To us. That's my guess. From your lips to God's ears! Quote
nebrasketball10 Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Hope Elbert can see past the empty million dollar promises. Ridiculous. If he has NBA talent or potential someone will notice. Especially since we're in the B1G. Development is a good argument, but it's not uncommon for unpolished players to get drafted. Lets be honest. If things go right for Elbert, he's going to play in the NBA. He's one of a dying breed--the true center. He will get a chance on an NBA roster on size and athleticism alone. He's as close to a shoe-in for the league as you can get if he's able to avoid major injury, participate in a collegiate strength and conditioning program, and develop his game some along the way. He can do that anywhere.Do you guys think it matters that Georgetown is "Big Man U"? Sure they have a history of developing NBA big men. But a lot of that has to do with 1) getting those top caliber bigs in the first place and 2) exposure. Big East exposure for those players on the east coast was huge. The Big East was the premier league for years. That's not true anymore and you can argue that a B1G player is going to have equal or greater exposure than a player in the new Big East. The focal point of all those big time programs on the east coast used to be the Big East with all programs competing in one league. Now the Big East is watered down and with Syracuse, Pitt going to the ACC, the attention of that region is divided. I would think it has at least a little to do with ability to coach/develop big men. FredsSlacks Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 I hope Elbert realizes that Georgetown has 3 legitimate centers on their roster that are all at least 6'9 and all at least 250 lbs. We have 1 true center who played 1 min per game last year. Quote

ShortDust Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Per robin, gtown is still recruiting him hard even tho they are already one over. He stated that they would make room if he wanted to join them. Hmmmm this is going to get interesting. I still think we are the front runner. Quote
ajb5856 Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Over on that other board Robin provided an Elbert update stating that he going to put out his final list on Thursday. We already knew that but then there's this nugget. Robin text Elbert's AAU coach asking if they are stilling planning on visiting Ohio State Sept. 27-29 and the response was "Don't know yet". Can't wait for Thursday. Norm Peterson, hhcmatt, HuskerActuary and 2 others 5 Quote
colhusker Posted September 18, 2013 Report Posted September 18, 2013 Yes but Vooch is going to turn heads this year! Hey! Don't sell him short! How can you sell a 7 foot kid short? Quote
ajb5856 Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Found this interesting. I don't necessarily believe in the Crystal Ball predictions that 247sports does but 2 recruiting analysts gave a prediction of Elbert to LSU today and another gave the prediction of Elbert to Texas A&M. Could mean nothing, just found it weird that he's had a total of 4 predictions over the weeks and then all of a sudden there's 3 today. Is it possible that LSU shows up on his list tomorrow? He did take an unofficial there at the end of August. Quote
ShortDust Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Lots of those predictions had us with wacker. So I'd take them with a grain of salt, but I bet there are 6 final schools. Hopefully there are only 4 and we are looking into the ball to much. I'd prefer one school tho Quote
ajb5856 Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Lots of those predictions had us with wacker. So I'd take them with a grain of salt, but I bet there are 6 final schools. Hopefully there are only 4 and we are looking into the ball to much. I'd prefer one school tho Yeah. This list thing being announced tomorrow has my attention. Curious to find out what schools are on it and how many of them there are. Two weeks ago he had Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Georgetown. He said he was going to take visits to each and possibly add a 5th visit before deciding in November. Since that time he came here, enjoyed himself, and loved the visit. There were comments made about the Ohio State visit and that the AAU coach wasn't looking forward to it. When the AAU coach was asked recently if the OSU visit was still on as planned he said, "I don't know". Then Paul White committed to Georgetown to put their 2014 class 1 over the scholarship limit already. Then I think Elbert skipped his unofficial to aTm. Right? Think I read that somewhere. So to speculate on tomorrow's list a bit...I would be surprised if both Ohio State and Georgetown made it on there. Could be way off, I just think something is going on there and 1 of those schools will be eliminated. I would also be surprised if there's not a 'new' school (not one of the 4 from before) on the list. So we know nothing. We speculate and wait for tomorrow. As I'm typing this another prediction for LSU. That's 3 today and this time from a Duke recruiting guru. Something's going on with Elbert and LSU for 3 predictions to come out of the blue like this. They're probably on the list. Several hours ago there was this from Elbert. @ElbertRobinson8: Now I can focus on my goals!!!! If we assume that everything he tweets about is regarding basketball and his recruitment then he obviously had either just finished finalizing his list or just decided on a school. Quote
ShortDust Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 As much as I just want him to commit, I have a feeling he has just made his list. I guess time will tell. Quote
hhcmatt Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 So to speculate on tomorrow's list a bit...I would be surprised if both Ohio State and Georgetown made it on there. I'd prefer to have 2 of the 5 teams on there ones that I would be confident in. Quote

Milk Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 I wonder what this is supposed to mean. Has a new school entered the picture? Quote
TheKamdyMan Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 He's visiting LSU this weekend Quote
The Coach Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 I don't have a good feeling about Elbert as the time passes since his visit. Time to put the full-court press on Bolden and Pinder. Quote
ajb5856 Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 He's visiting LSU this weekend Not good. I wondered what was with all the LSU predictions yesterday. Quote
ShortDust Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Yep, as soon as I saw that tweet I immediately said he's going to LSU. Sigh... Prove me wrong Elbert! Quote

Time to put the full-court press on Bolden and Pinder.I don't think we give up on Elbert yet, but signs are showing that he's still looking around. I'm sure we are still in his final 4, but now things are about to get interesting. Quote
FredsSlacks Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Is it possible LSU wasn't even on his list, but he just wants to take a free visit there before releasing a final list? Quote
Milk Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Is it possible LSU wasn't even on his list, but he just wants to take a free visit there before releasing a final list? Doubtful. He already took an unofficial there in late August. There is obviously real interest. Quote
bobcat402 Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 lol ah yess, the cycle has begun, in a span of three pages we have gone from over hyperbole about elbert committing, to know concerned he may be going to LSU, i think liked his visit, is interested, but likes LSU(who has turned out some pretty good big men as well) if he comes, he comes, maybe this is just like akoy, sai, and atewe or maybe this changes things. hopefully we get elbert and pinder and bolden or two of the three or just 1. hhcmatt, Silverbacked1 and HuskerActuary 3 Quote
