Both good things to hear.  If he could play 20 minutes next year we can start slotting Pitch at the 4 instead of making him play the 5.

Surge might be a lot like those Wisconsin big men who take time to mature.  It wouldn't surprise me a bit if he takes the Ubel path from whipping boy to wish he would have redshirted.

Robin said that he is gaining muscle mass but his exact weight isn't known. But it is greater than his listed weight of 234 lbs.

Kevin Garnett is listed at 253 Lbs. - Tyson Chandler at 240 Lbs. - Spencer Hawes at 245 Lbs..... Agree that Serj need to gain weight ( 10-20 Lbs. ) , but even more so he needs to gain strength............ Good to see that he is hitting the weight room

Saw him in the dining hall a couple weeks ago. He was definitely chowin down! It was also funny cuz he didnt know some of the food that was being served and was asking the ladies who work there what the food was.

Comparing Vooch to these guys simply on their weight and strength doesn't tell quite the whole story.

I am almost certain that I read an article a while back (February or March) about how Vooch had actually lost 20 lbs during the season.  Maybe I heard it on the radio, but I thought it was in an article.  That would be a similar situation to Diaz who struggled with losing weight during the season, and then had much more success putting on weight during the offseason.

 

Dimes, what is remarkable about this is when we consider that Hoppen played his senior year at 6'11" 235 lbs.  John Matzke was a 6' 7" senior at 190 lbs on the same team.  You recently mentioned that you were watching tape of his games and noted how much less physical it was at that time.  This is how the game has changed.  Now a post player must either be an unbelievable athlete, or over 250 lbs to even get on the floor.  This is largely because of how the game is officiated which rewards brute physicality over skill level.

Yeah, and this 230# Finnish fella is listed at 180#.  I know what they say.  I remain unconvinced.

I can sometimes get caught up in "shiny new toys," but I'm happy that Vucetic is supposedly coming back and Miles remains high on him. I think back to when we got him, and we were all pretty excited. We also knew he was a project, so we shouldn't be surprised that he failed to make an impact as a freshman. Now why he didn't get at least scraps of playing time is up to debate...
