He runs a clean program and graduates his players.  Not exactly known for being up-tempo, though.  That's really important for attracting recruits.  You have to be up-tempo.  Players won't go play at programs that aren't up-tempo.  Unless they wear Nikes.

Well, congrats Tubby.  I just think Norwood Teague pulled a Steve Pedersen last week up at Minnesota.  But as for the job in Lubbock, would anyone here agree with me that Tubby could have held out for a better opportunity 400 miles west in Albuquerque?

Granted Tubbys' spent time in Tulsa, but going from the Edina Country Club to Lubbock TX is beyond culture shock. I think Tubby will rue the day he jumped on the first job he was offered (which is what this looks like).

I agree with you.  Donna loved the bigger city.  Also, I can't see Saul going with him.  The DUI that Saul got this past season was not a good thing for him.  Recruiting is not Saul's strong point either.

Tubby seems to be ridin' out the last years of his coaching career at wherever he's wanted, and there's nothing wrong w/ that mindset as there's no sense peein' into the wind... Lubbock isn't so bad, as long as you're a Texan at heart (I would suppose). Guess we'll have to figure he's now Tubby the Texan, oh my.  :o
