  1. Listened to him do the DePaul/Minnesota game. He did alright, seemed to be pro Minnesota a little bit. He spent Thanksgiving with Pitino and family, talked about it on air.
  2. Northwestern became his only choice after 4-star Jamal Mashburn Jr. committed to Minnesota.
  3. Yes Minnesota did play Stella Azzura today and won by 6, but Stella has 50 players on its roster from 10 different countries. Several different players played for Stella today that didn't play yesterday. I have no idea the quality of players that were different. Taking nothing away from the Huskers victory, but tough to compare the two.
  4. The people that want Miles is very few in number. Pitino isn't going anywhere for awhile, new extension and another good recruiting class coming in.
  5. Thompson has been battling concussions, thus the lack of playing time, but your right Miller is going to need to figure things out quickly at Indiana.
  6. Whalen, while having no coaching experience, she is a home run hire. Needs a good staff, has a very high basketball IQ, will be a great recruiter, should be able to lock up the borders. Most are very happy with the hire. Certainly an icon in Minnesota and women's basketball.
  7. Good points. She was definately one of the main ones involved with Yori being gone. It appeared she worked even less this past year getting in shape than under Yori.
  8. Hadn't heard about Chuck Barris. The Gong Show was one of the funniest shows on TV, maybe ever.
  9. Hate is maybe a little strong. Fans were certainly split on Pitino just like they are with Miles. As a Gopher fan I don't think it is correct to say everyone HATED him.
  10. Yes he was, his dad, all time leading rusher at Minnesota, admitted that in an article on a Gopher web site.
  11. Minnesota played well in beating St Johns last night 92-86. Freshman Amir Coffey scored 30. The games end up tied again 4-4.
  12. The booing got pretty loud last night when Iowa was kicking their ass at home in Assembly.
  13. I would have liked to see him play for anyone but the sticking Badgers. Minnesota got a commitment from a big man and filled all their open spots before AI would make a decision.
  14. Not sure why you wouldn't. We are most likely getting an assistant coach who: -Has been a Division 1 head basketball coach for 19 years -Has won a conference title at all three of his stops - Northern Illinois, Bradley, and Western Illinois -Has NCAA tourney experience as both a HC (two appearances) and as an assistant (six appearances and one F4 with Depaul) -Has served as a NBA Scout for the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat -Is good friends with our Head basketball coach and is said to be on the same wave length in terms of philosophies -Is widely respected in the game, do some research and you will see positive quotes from some of the best coaches in the game regarding Molinari -Has deep recruiting ties to the B1G conference, specifically in talent rich Chicago area -Regarded as one of the best defensive minds in the college game. Anybody who doesn't think this would be an amazing hire needs to get their head examined. There are very few programs in the country that have a guy with this pedigree on their bench not as the head coach, but as an assistant. Add to this that the last time he was an assistant in the B1G he was ranked by some publications as the best assistant in the conference. Coach Mo would be a great get for the Huskers. Still very well thought of around the Gopher program from when he was an assistant and fill in head coach. Great defensive coach, A ton of experience and a great guy.
  15. For Minnesota, it was strength of schedule and wins over top 50 and top 100 rpi teams. They were ranked as high as 8th in the polls at one point, only loss in the non conference was to Duke, beat Memphis, Stanford and Florida state. Then they folded down the stretch as they did many a time with Tubby as their coach. Also beat #1 Indiana in conference.
  16. Most of the conversations I had and read on Gopher sites were that there was much concern about playing in Lincoln. Hollins hurt and the Huskers record at home would suggest nothing else. Now I think most Gopher fans thought there was still a chance, but 9 turnovers from Mathieu and poor free throw shooting and some spotty defense along with the Huskers shooting and playing very well put an end to that chance
  17. Last time out: Lost at Purdue ????? Beat Wisconsin at home, no big deal, good luck with the game.
  18. Petteway has to be in consideration for that award. Another name to throw into the conversation is Dre Matthieu from Minnesota. Doing a great job at running the point for the Gophers.
  19. It now appears that Shanks will not be going to Minnesota, was not admitted due to grades or ACT. He is reportedly going to university of North Dakota.
  20. Hammons did play well today, but he has been very inconsistent this year, takes games off at times.
