Could be a good scorer.  Shot 39.9% from three on 4.3 attempts a game.  Likely starter that could average 15 a game.

What's the scout on him? Nebraska made him look like a star a couple weeks ago. Had the best game of his career.

In the other Iowa games I've watched, I just didn't notice him much. Seemed like a spot up shooter, not much wiggle off the bounce. And maybe unfairly assuming he could be a liability defensively and on the boards.

However, priority #1 should be guys that can put the ball in the basket. He's efficient.

Sandfort would be a great addition with Mast back and a dynamic point guard.   But the PG aspect is huge there.

PG is something this cycle they HAVE to nail. Even if it's a guy who can just put the ball in the basket in a combo guard role with reink doing now initiating, that's a spot they need to nail. If janowski Progressed athletically and at Ball handling, he could also do this, but we'll see. Still really high on him. Wing will have plenty of scoring options, so they'll be able to find someone I believe.

No inside knowledge but just a few that have stood out to me so far.

https://aws.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/mister-dean-1.html (super athlete)

https://aws.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/gabriel-pozzato-1.html

https://aws.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/brock-harding-1.html (option 3 type guy imo)

https://aws.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/jaden-henley-1.html (big ten experience and has experience at PG at unlv. Had to run it for a period of time)

Not many pgs yet, but portal hasn't officially opened yet. Also Pryce is on this list too, but that was obvious

High demand here…

I personally pass on him here. Was not a fan of his over the past 3 years at IU. He's a 5 in a 4 body but can't defend the 5 spot. Hard hard pass on him from me.

He'll probably go bag chasing too. Good chance he ends up at home in Miami

Someone like Kansas will pay him a lot of money to not make their team better

Miami is the obvious one to me with that being home. FSU also is another. Let them overpay for him.

Cupps is interesting to me because he shoots he's a combination of shoots well enough and played a lot of minutes as a freshman in the conference where he might work out if he gets a change of scenery.  He might also just not be a very good.

I think it's more a case of he's not very good. Dropping down a level is probably best for him.

Watching the big ten tourney, Grant Hill commented several times how the Big Ten is a Big Man’s league. This was during the Michigan vs Maryland game - both teams had a pair of really talented big men. I know that we all know this, but I really hope in addition to a capable scoring point guard, we grab at least one, but better, two physical big men that can rebound and score.

If Dawson Garcia had a Covid year I’d happily take him next to Mast and Berke

Dawson Garcia has already had his 5 years in college. I agree, though, that a guy like him would be a good fit at NU.

An uber athletic 4 who can help protect the rim alongside Mast is my number 2 want.   Berke’s ideal role is off the bench as the 6th/7th guy who can play both the 4 or 5 depending on opponents.

I agree. Berke showed a flash or two at the beginning of the year. His shooting is really inconsistent- isn’t super strong with the ball, if he’s our starting 4 or 5 next year I think we are in trouble.

Just give me Julian Reese and Dawson Garcia.

Berke had pretty fantastic games against Creighton, St. Mary's and Ohio State. But the game did seem to move too fast for him much of the year.

He defense can be a real asset. I still think he has untapped potential, but not sure I agree with Fred on his shooting ability. Way too much wasted lower and upper body movement to be a consistent shooter. Whenever Fred says something like that about a player who hasn't proved it on the court, my mind goes directly to the Lat practice stories.
