Huskerpapa Posted January 12 Author Report Posted January 12 It is a short article from LJS confirming Allison is out for the year with a knee injury suffered in practice. Bugeaters1 1 Quote

Huskerpapa Posted January 12 Author Report Posted January 12 Allison will go through a myriad of emotions and then have conversations with many people (doctors, specialists, family, friends, teammates, psychologists, and so forth). She will make decisions, question those decisions and change her decision; perhaps multiple times. Personally, I think she will fight to come back unless the injury is so bad, it simply cannot happen. But ultimately it will be Allison who makes the final decision. I will NEVER leverage hindsight with a decision that was made about recovery. Yet I do wonder why a decision to go without a sleeve or brace on one or both of her knees was made. Perhaps neither would help. I don't know, it simply is heart breaking. Bugeaters1 1 Quote
Neb Nets Posted January 12 Report Posted January 12 Ugh Heartbreaking. Like I said after Potts’ knee injury ended her season, it’s like we’re cursed or something. Quote

We’ve seen this before - a talented player who loves the game and has the determination to play, but fate and the Universe just don’t cooperate and their promising careers are cut short. Cazzie22 Posted January 13 Report Posted January 13 She seemed to love the idea proving a small school girl could compete. It’s very sad for her. The ten left need to rededicate themselves and step up their game. Quote
KarlHessEatMy.... Posted January 13 Report Posted January 13 I would think Allison would want to give it up. But I have had 4 knee surgeries from the age of 16 to 27.. Twice from Football, Once from Basketball and Once from Volleyball. My doctor told me you would never be a runner and more than likely will need a whole new knee soon. I listened to him until I turned 30 and then I was like there is no way I am going to be that person. I got into the gym and trained even harder on my lower body and started taking care of myself a lot better. 2 years later I started running half marathons and now at 36 I am still playing volleyball competitively.. I do think its a mind over matter thing for someone if they truly want to keep it going. I honestly feel stronger and healthier than I ever did in college. I hope she takes her time and truly decides what is best for her. I am here for the support if she wants to keep going. Huskerpapa and Cazzie22 2 Quote
Nails Posted January 13 Report Posted January 13 This is where the coaching decision to not use all of our scholarships may start to come into play. We know we are down to 10 at best for the rest of the year. Any game to game injuries or a flu bug will just about wipe us out. TCU had that happen last year when they were in the top 25 and they had to forfeit a game and then add three walkons in the middle of the season. All About the Corn Posted January 14 Report Posted January 14 So do we know what her exact injury is? Quote
Redhac Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 So did Allison get injured due to contact or did her knee just give out? Quote
