The Big Red will battle Texas A&M Corpus Christi (Nov. 25) and Mississippi State (Nov. 26) at the Puerto Rico Clasico, before embarking on an East Coast swing that includes an ACC/Big Ten Challenge match-up at No. 11 Virginia Tech (Dec. 1) and a Big Ten clash with No. 14 Maryland (Dec. 4). In a rare occurrence, Nebraska plans to wear red uniforms at home on Tuesday, primarily because of complications caused by its upcoming Thanksgiving travel plans. Red Don 1 Quote
Al Belgum Posted November 22, 2022 Report Posted November 22, 2022 After the routs of the 2 previous games Nebraska looks like they have a slim chance for a victory Quote
All About the Corn Posted November 22, 2022 Report Posted November 22, 2022 A couple of things...Jaz the last two games is the only player over 30 minutes per game. Allison, Issie, and Alexis are in the mid 20's. Looked at some of the B1G teams and they have minimum 2-3 players over the 30 minute mark. Not saying it would have made a difference in the last two games but when you need more production we need our best group on the floor. Cazzie22 1 Quote
redsteve Posted November 22, 2022 Report Posted November 22, 2022 Another not so strong opponent...maybe have too many ?? Tonight will be interesting to see if we've folded up our tent....or....have learned a couple of lessons about being competitive....and can be more competitive than who we're playing. Quote

HUD Posted November 22, 2022 Report Posted November 22, 2022 Once Sam is back even for limited minutes I think that will give a big emotional lift to the team. Another opportunity for team defense improvement is for more blocked shots. This should happen once Maggie M. is available. How about a front line of Mendelson, Markowski and Bourne at the 3 position like she played at times last year. Montana_85 F and Cazzie22 2 Quote

12dozen Posted November 23, 2022 Author Report Posted November 23, 2022 Any mention of Weidner injury? Looked like she got hit in the eye? Quote
Red Don Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 (edited) Halftime Stats: Huskers lead by 5 7 (31-24) (oops 7 - math was never my best subject) Everything Tarleton throws up toward the basket seems to go-in. (but they are dead-eye from three point range (43% vs our 13%)) Edited November 23, 2022 by Red Don 12dozen 1 Quote
Red Don Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 Still no Allison Weidner sighting since she was hit in the face at the beginning of the game. Hope it is not serious. Matt & Jeff expressed concern she may not be able to make the trip leaving early tomorrow morning to Puerto Rico for the WBB tournament. Quote
hoop_head Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 Very unfortunate turn of events. Hope they hang in there. Quote
Red Don Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 And just when Sam Haiby slipped on the floor and is taken to the locker room. Quote
KarlHessEatMy.... Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 The urgency and lack of effort is completely gone this year. Holy smokes.. I hope something changes this year. Alexis looking like a high schooler with her try out there. Jazz has been lost. If hake can make some shots we would be fine. Quote

Red Don Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 Final Stats: Huskers Win it: 71-53 No Markowski; No Win! (24-18-2) especially after the 3rd Qtr slump when it was a 5 Point game. Happily Jaz and Issie found their range and finished strong. Could have been a downer after losing Allison & Sam. Montana_85 F, hoop_head and 12dozen 3 Quote
hoop_head Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 (edited) Thought Markowski played her tail off. Absolutely put in work when the game was in doubt. Edited November 23, 2022 by hoop_head Red Don, 12dozen, redsteve and 1 other 1 3 Quote
Merlin Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 Except for Markowski, it was pretty average play. This team seems to not be very athletic compared to the last three teams they’ve played. Quote

Cazzie22 Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 Tarleton exposed our lack of perimeter quickness and were a scrappy bunch. We had a difficult time executing offense against them in long stretches. Didn’t seem to play with much confidence or effort. Injuries to Weidner and Sam are very damaging to this team. If we don’t knock down a better percentage of threes then we are in trouble. After viewing tonight it’s not surprising we couldn’t hang with Drake and Creighton. Red Don and whoopdeedoo 1 1 Quote
Huskerpapa Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 (edited) Pretty sure Allison was taken to the ER. Looked like a nasty injury including her eyelid. Sam didn't slip in my view, rather, it appears her knee buckled. Briefly talked to the Mendelson's. Great people. Dare I say, pretty big basketball fans. I believe mom said both of them played. Tarleton was both scrappy and physical. Their backcourt was troublesome. Their bigs, not so much. Edited November 23, 2022 by Huskerpapa whoopdeedoo, Red Don, 12dozen and 2 others 3 2 Quote
