AuroranHusker Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 What an incredible comeback by the Big Red. Shavon Shields getting that 3-pt play before the end of the half was the little spark that led the team back on the right track. The starters playing every minute of the 2nd half & shooting 15-24 from the field... and, senior all-everything Dylan Talley stepped up like a champ knocking down a top-of-the-key triple with the shot clock winding down & Gesell tightly guarding him. Awesome! TheGov21 and Hooper 2 Quote
cozrulz Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 as much as Shields did today, Talley and Ubel put the team on their back in the 2nd half hhcmatt 1 Quote
AuroranHusker Posted February 23, 2013 Author Report Posted February 23, 2013 I think Miles sitting Shields fairly early in the ballgame was a bit of a wake-up call for Shavon. I thought he did a lot of good things after he came back, especially getting to the foul line when NU hardly ever does. Quote
lang Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 So was our biggest deficit 19 ? Man, sports are weird things. I was in the stands and that whole game is kind of a blur. Amazing comeback. Quote

Amazing comeback. Yes, Iowa led 41-22 after three straight triples. Then, it was 42-19 the rest of the way BIG RED! Quote
Norm Peterson Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 I wonder what they're saying over on the Iowa message boards about blowing a 19 point lead to the team picked to finish last in the league? Quote
hhcmatt Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 I wonder what they're saying over on the Iowa message boards about blowing a 19 point lead to the team picked to finish last in the league? Considering that I saw a guy wearing a "Beat Nebraska" shirt at the game that probably wasn't purchased for basketball? Not so good. Silverbacked1 Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Stupid wrestling and we would be 16-0. Quote
hhcmatt Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Stupid wrestling and we would be 16-0. We lost to them in basketball last year at home Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted February 23, 2013 Report Posted February 23, 2013 Oh yeah That's what I get for leaving at the 4 min time out. I even waved at Tom. I love getting to Perkins before it gets crowded at 5. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 I just read through their game thread on Hawkeys whatever. It was hilarious. Oh, the trash they were spouting about putting us away early and all that. Then the meltdown. Beyond hilarious. For as cocky as the Hawkeye crowd was at the game today, to deliver the worst lost that most of those guys can remember is priceless. They kept on talking about how we beat them playing only 5 guys the whole second half. And a lot of them were dishing on Fran. Ooooooh. It'd be a shame if Fran ends up crashing and burning in Iowa City, leaving Gesell thinking he might have made a bad college choice. Bwhahahahahahahahahahaha Hooper 1 Quote
Swan88 Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Speaking of Iowa coaches, did anyone notice that, during a first half time out, the Iowa players were seated around the elbow area but the Iowa coaches were huddling around the top of the key--the Iowa coaches were talking amongst themselves instead of with their players. Hadn't seen that before. Quote

Hadn't seen that before. We noticed. Got my warning for yelling at the players about it when they came back to the bench. Quote
49r Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Iowa fan == Missouri fan An overwhelmingly undeserved sense of self-importance in the sports world, but with the possible exception of actually having success in something. See: Wrestling, and Women's and Men's hoops in the 80's. Otherwise, pretty similar, IMO. Iowa sucks. Norm Peterson 1 Quote

Silverbacked1 Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 As I was walking out of the Bob after the game, the only way you could tell the difference between the two fan bases where the colors they wore, the smiles or frowns and if you smelled pig or cow. Norm Peterson 1 Quote
Huskerpapa Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Dimes, perhaps there were numerous Iowa fans with the beat Nebraska t-shirts on, but I saw one of them as well. The mood of the Iowa fans certainly changed from beginning to end, but then again, so did the mood of Nebraska fans Norm Peterson 1 Quote

Daledangdarn Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Can you imagine when we beat them IN Iowa? Those artards are gonna flip. Quote
hhcmatt Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 Can you imagine when we beat them IN Iowa? Those artards are gonna flip. We did last year - I don't think we do this year Quote

There was a father/son combo with Iowa shirts (with Gesell on the back) and Nebraska hats. Odd. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted February 24, 2013 Report Posted February 24, 2013 No disrespect to the fine town of South Sioux City (it actually should be called South Sioux Town) but until Gesell leaves the Hawkeyes, I unofficially transfer the town to Iowa. hhcmatt 1 Quote

Norm Peterson Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 Hey, hey, there's a lot of very nice people in South Sioux and I would disagree with anyone who says they consider themselves part of Iowa. I have a good friend who lives in South Sioux (who happens to have first hand knowledge of how the Gesell's basement is decorated) and I would not consign him to being an Iowan. That would just not be right. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 The guys who lived on my dorm floor back in college were BIG Hawkeye fans. There was 6 of them. So that is where I got my prejudice from. Quote
