I don't think it takes intestinal fortitude to post on a message board - just a PC, internet connection and a little boredom.

Sounds like instead of Iowa, Creighton will be seeing Georgetown, Marquette, Villanova, Xavier and Butler regularly.

With the talent McDermott is bringing in....and his last go in a high major conference.  This may not be such a good thing.  Also, for any Jays fans dogging NU baseball for being in the Big 10....the league they are about to join will be far worse than Big 10 baseball.  Not that it really does anything for NU baseball because we already get the top instate talent....but still quite funny after the things Creighton fans said about NU baseball after joining the Big 10.

Don't you know cwg this is a message board and we are all aloud to express ourselves, don't stifle us man.

Other wise we would be just taking about uniforms.

Do you really want to continue with this convo? By all means, go ahead.

Hey just spreading the good word. :)

Nope, just trying to stifle good conversation once again. Your post was virtually verbatim of what you posted a couple of weeks ago when people were having a good discussion in the "David Rivers, Shavon Shields, Nick Fuller, Terran Petteway" thread on pg. 3:

In all seriousness we just have to wait and see what the coaches want to do.  We can talk all we want, but it really doesn't matter because nobody listens to us but us.  :)

What you're essentially saying when you make posts like this is that any discussion about the future of the team's personnel and where/how they may be play is pointless and that fans shouldn't engage in such wasted energy, but should instead just sit around with their mouths shut until the coaches see fit to tell us how things are going to be.

To me, this is the antithesis of what sports message boards are all about. We may not know what we're talking about and could be off base, but it's still fun to have these types of discussions, and for the life of me I can't figure out why you feel the need to counsel people that they're wasting their time and should just wait and see what the coaches are going to do.

Sorry if I'm coming down on you, but when I saw you post the exact same thing again yesterday, I didn't care for it any more than I did the first time you posted it. It's a pet peeve of mine, and it's not what message boards are all about.

As uneblinstu has noted a couple of times recently, I AM the guy whose gone around saying discussion boards are for discussions.  So, I'm in favor of wondering or speculating about all manner of potential, future happenings.

Having said that, I think there is a HUGE difference between Silverbacked saying "we won't know until the coaches decide" versus what I've seen from other guys who've said "we shouldn't be having this discussion."

I've seen Silverbacked around her a loooong time and I've never seen him try to stifle discussion.

Again, I think there's a BIG difference between saying, "we don't know" and "we shouldn't even try guessing."

I could NAME the poster who used to tell me we shouldn't talk about those topics of speculation but I'll save him the embarrassment and just tell you that it WASN'T Silverbacked.  That guy would actually say things like "Why are we talking about this?"  That hasn't been Silverbacked.

In short, yes, I think you are coming down on Silverbacked.  I think saying "we won't know" is just as valid a point of discussion as "here's what I think."

Fair enough, Norm. Silverbacked seems like a good dude, and I'm not trying start trouble here. Most of you guys have been here a lot longer than I have. Also, I may argue passionately for my opinions, but that doesn't mean I'm mad at anyone. I just have strong opinions and expect that people will be prepared to defend their positions just like I defend mine. This process has often caused me to rethink opinions when they don't stand up. I feel that's healthy. Everyone should have their opinions questioned and be prepared to justify them rationally.

Still, when these types of discussions go on, I dare say there's not a guy here who actually believes he's a decision maker about Nebraska basketball. We're not sitting here actually planning how players are going to be used next season, because no one cares what we think anyway. Silverbacked is definitely right about that.

However, these discussions don't stem from a delusion about control. They stem from curiosity, interest and passion. Everyone here is emotionally invested in this basketball program and cares about its future. Speculation about that future is part of the fun for me, and probably for many others here, regardless of whether or not our opinions don't align with the coaches'.

Of course Tim Miles isn't asking for my opinion, or for anyone's opinion here. That doesn't mean we can't hash this stuff out for hours, though, however futile an exercise that may be.

I agree with what you say Hooper.  And I'm not trying to speak for Silverbacked but I think what he was saying was intended by him to be a contribution to the discussion rather than an effort to stifle it.  It's like saying, "I don't know; I'm going to have to see what the coaches do."

But, yeah, I agree with pretty much everything you just said.  I like having those discussions.  I'm not doing it because I think I can solve the problem but because I have a curiosity about things.  So, yeah, what you said.

Is it tough to understand this a thread about Mike Gessell? You Creighton trolls really struggle with this concept.  I don't think many give a rats ass about crappy Mo Valley teams or what potential watered down league they might land in.  Start a new thread, since you feel the need to come back after a win.
