Howard has an elite 8 and a sweet 16 and hasn't had a losing season. Maybe their trajectories are just converging, rather than passing.

Juwan's worst year was Michigan going to the NIT. Fred's "best" year was being an NIT bubble team (debatably).

In fairness, Howard inherited an established program coming off 4 straight NCAA tourneys including an appearance in the championship game.  Hoiberg inherited a team coming off zero NCAAs in the last 4 years and a history of being Nebrasketball.
