Old story...good players don't necessarily make good coaches.  She just wasn't one to create good team chemistry.

Got some good recruits recently, but it was too late.

Nebraska needs to hire Shimmy to be the lead recruiter.

In addition to recruiting,  I think she has had success working with post players.  Current title is Associate Head Coach. Bring her home.

Pretty interesting to listen to.  And you could even hear the questions that were asked.  Not very many softballs.  The AD did waffle a bit.

I did watch the MU and PSU game. Really wanted to see how Brown played, sitting her down for those two games must have helped because she played well and really none of the antics she has become known for.

Thought both teams played well, ...a good game. PSU has improved, and was very competitive. While MU is good overall, I doubt they'll go very far in the NCAA's.  They just don't have a strong inside presence, but play well as a team.

The teams that do well usually have a couple of bigs that can control the middle.... as well as active true guard play

Minny got some good news: Mara Braun has announced her intentions to return. She stated she came in with the purpose to build up the program and is going to see this thing through. An incoming recruit, Kennedy Klick (Maple Grove, Mn) announced she will honor her commitment.

One thing a new coach is looking at: the cupboard is far from bare...and the talent abounds in minny.

if they get a good coach, i could see minny pulling a similar situation to illinois next season.

I’ve been hearing rumors they’re looking at the South Dakota State coach, but I have no idea if there’s any truth to that.

that rumor has come up almost every time they are looking for a coach. i believe he is from Pine Island, Mn just north of the Twin Cities. i know there are some that believe he should be their first choice. once again, a number of people have stated no way minny will hire a male. living in SD, i hope he stays at SDSU. of course he would take a big bump in pay (i believe his base pay at SDSU is around $294,000).

Looking at their roster, Braun is one of four, freshmen Top 100 recruits.  If they all return, like you said, the cupboard is far from bare.  Also of note, all four are from the State of Minnesota. (Might be inclined to stay).

I see Nebraska-Omaha takes on the Jackrabbits at 1:00 today on ESPNU.  Not expecting a UNO win, but hope they keep it close.

it appears Robin Fralick of Bowling Green is on Minny's short list...imo, this would be big.

WBCA Coach of the Year (2017, 2018)
3× GLIAC Coach of the Year (2016, 2017, 2018)
NCAA Division II Basketball Bulletin Coach of the Year (2017)
Columbus Dispatch Coach of the Year (2016, 2017)
MAC Coach of the Year (2021) <-- Her best one.

would think A. Johnston and Megan Duffy is on that short list.

Dawn Plitzuweit has been named the new coach of the Minnesota women's basketball program, the school announced Saturday.

Her six-year deal is pending approval from the board of regents and a background check, the school said.

Plitzuweit replaces Minnesota basketball legend Lindsay Whalen, who stepped down as coach earlier this month after her fifth season at the helm. Whalen went 71-76, including 11-19 (4-14 Big Ten) in 2022-23. She failed to coach the Gophers into the NCAA tournament during her time in Minneapolis.

Wow - I've had my eye on her for some time (which was easy for a while since I live in Vermillion).  I thought if she could find success at West Virginia (I would have liked to have seen her there another year), she might be a candidate for the Huskers if they decided to move in a different direction.  Guess Minnesota is the early bird that gets the worm.

Recruiting that area of the country just got tougher
