I just looked at their resumes, it pisses me off about last year.  Belmont NET 47 Q1 2 - 2 Q2 3 - 1 Q4 17 - 0  Temple NET 56 Q1 2 - 6 Q2 6 - 2.  Our resume NET 48 Q1 3 - 13 Q2 6-3.  5 wins by Belmont

I know we shouldn't be in, but I'm still comparing it to last year.  You tell a team, "You didn't get in because you didn't beat enough Q1 and Q2 teams" one year, and the next year, you let a team in

Here are how the NET numbers ended up as seeds:     NET RANKS (*Non P5 teams) 1 SEEDS: 1, 2, 3, 7 2 SEEDS: 5, 6, 8, 9 3 SEEDS: 4*, 10, 12, 14 4 SEEDS: 11, 16, 2

So Duke is the overall #1, which means MSU is the overall #8 even with a better conference record than Michigan and a 3-0 head-to-head record.

We were worse than 5-3 against the top 2 quadrants last year.

If they would have taken care of business before Cope got hurt, they would have been fine. Blown double digit leads @ Minny and Maryland and losing @ Rutgers sucked. Win two of those three and we have an 18-13 (8-12) regular season and a different seed in the BTT (so who knows what happens there). 

 

But at worst 18-14 record, would have gotten us in I think.

That was this year's.  Just showing you the difference in thinking from one year to another.  

This year, we had a better resume than Belmont and Temple.  We played a good schedule last year out of conference.  We beat Michigan last year.  Belmont beat ZERO at-large or teams this year.  Murray State might have been the only team they beat that was on the bubble, if they didn't get the auto bid.   Temple beat Houston and UCF.  Indiana beat Marquette, Wisconsin, and MSU twice.  So, you say Nebraska last year didn't beat the quality teams last year, but beat everyone else.  This year, you change it so that Belmont can make it in, despite beating no quality teams, but beating everyone else.

Agreed.  But I think if he doesn't get hurt, we could have found 2 more wins in the latter portion of the conference schedule to make up for those.

 

However, our Big 10 seeding completely changes and there is a chance we go 0-1.

Plenty of opportunities where we could have almost had ourselves as close of a lock as you can be 50% into a season.

Would have been interesting.  Do you think that gets us over ASU or St. Johns?  That is the question.  The committee went with the mid-major flavor for two of the final four spots.

The NCAA committee and the NIT committee are two completely different entities and use their own evaluation criteria. Which is why we ended as a 5 seed least year.

Yep.  Heavily followed KPI last year.  So we could end anywhere 2-5.
