Every time I've thought we've turned the corner we play a turd of a game like today.  Wow that was just ugly.

not sure beating dayton and la tech qualifies as turning the corner. we have a ways to go.

we'll know a lot more after clemson/kansas/creighton.

I thought Kansas doesn't lose at home.

They don't.  Bill Self has more conference championships at KU than home losses.  In fact we had more home losses last year (8) than Self has ever had (7) at Phog Allen.  That's just about 1 home loss every other year to you and me.

Our young roster showed against Va. Tech.  We'll lay an egg here or there, but I'm still very encouraged by what I've seen.  Even the VT loss will still help our RPI at the end of the year, and the Dayton win will prove to help.  If we can go 1-2 in the next three games, I'd call that a very successful start to the season.

We played awful and were up at half, down 6 with a minute left against what is likely a tournament team.  Take that how you want, but I think it's a good sign.

...well they didn't have a home loss last year and they still haven't lost at home this year. We can always be that team to give them that one "L" for the year at home ;)

I was looking at the UCLA game too.  We seemed more fluid offensively, well until yesterday.  Maybe I drank to much kool-aid at Thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, here is our next 4:

Wed Nov 30   32 Clemson L, 72-63 66 19% Away     a.gif
Sat Dec 3   250 South Dakota W, 75-62 68 89% Home
Wed Dec 7   22 Creighton L, 75-71 70 35% Home     a.gif
Sat Dec 10   6 Kansas L, 78-61 69 6% Away     a.gif

If that holds true, that means:

First five games = 5-0.

Next 6 games = 1-5.

"Tums-Tums-Tums-Tums"

i would not be concerned with our rpi at this point. it doesn't matter what our rpi is if we only win 15 games.

My point is that we performed better at that tournament than we were supposed to.  We finished 4th--ahead of Dayton--and improved our RPI by 20 spots with a top 50 win.  It matters a lot if we win 18-19 games, and I think that's a very real possibility.
