  1. Sid is sadly like your old drunk Uncle who is tolerated and ignored at family gatherings.
  2. Probably THE most important factor for Doug is that he gets to play for his Dad. That has nothing to do with NBA money or which Conference they're in. That is a rare and unique opportunity which can't be undersold. Still, I like the Huskers chances with/without Doug. Much more without however.
  3. Tyus Jones, Reid Travis and Rashad Vaughn are all top 50 recruits located here in the Twin Cities. None have committed, and I wouldn't say any are even leaning toward the Gophers. Izzo flew directly from his game Sat. to Mpls. to watch PG Tyus Jones win the State Title. He has the inside track on both Jones and Vaughn. Too much homegrown talent has went elsewhere during Tubby's tenure, and the players he has kept (Mbakwe,Williams) never improved.
  4. The worst kept secret in the Twin Cities came to fruition today. Smith out at the U of M after 6 lackluster seasons. Thank God the Huskers are not on the Coaching Merry-Go-Round this season or any time soon for that matter. Could Flip Saunders be in play?
  5. Could he have been the personal assistant to one Inspector Clouseau?
  6. Doc went after the Iverson kid hard before he decided on the Gophers. He grew tired of Tubby's doghouse, and has really blossomed at CSU since the transfer. He looked like a different player last night, assertive, polished.
  7. Jack Hartman coached at K-State for a number of years if I'm not mistaken.
  8. Agreed, debating whether the Xavier or the Penn loss is worse, is like drinking a tall glass of cold gravy.
  9. I'm thankful we're not slummin' in this rinky dink tournament.
  10. The Creighton blowout was in '91. I'M the one who needs a nap.
  11. Gallagher/Harstad were crushed like a bug the year before in Lincoln. That's probably why you didn't hear as much chirpin' back then.
  12. I thought it was a fat Chuck Knoblauch when he popped on the screen.
  13. Without digging through my old media guide, I believe Bill Johnson was 6'10", he was Native American, and never played much. I had buddies from Hartington and Wynot that played against him in High School. Here's hoping Vooch fills out ala' Ubel, because he does have a nice touch around the bucket.
  14. Please name it East/West and not some self- aggrandizing bunch of crap.
  15. Vooch has Bill Johnson from Plainview written all over him.
  16. I will always miss the last "real" Conference we were in. But, I do take some satisfaction in knowing not ONE team from the state of Texas made the tournament. Oh, and how's that Longhorn TV channel workin' out?
  17. Keep in mind Husker faithful, I'd rather kick sand in Creighton's face every year when they're REALLY good, in a good Conference and not some middling program on the level of Drake.
  18. Instead of being "the Duke of the Mo' Valley" sounds like Creighton is finally going to put on it's Big Boy pants. As much as I loathe the Bluejays, I realize a strong Creighton program raises the level of exposure and competition for "all" Nebraska basketball, college and otherwise. Who would have ever thought the Big Red would be in a Conference with Rutgers, and Creighton would be playing home games against Georgetown?
  19. We need alot more just like him. Roll yer sleeves up, no BS, and got better every year.
  20. Never forget, Nebraska is cattle country. Home to the Sandhills and Ranchers. Iowa is hogs and pig farmers. They make movies about Ranchers, they're called" Westerns". They made a movie about pig farmers, it was called "Deliverence".
  21. I thought Shatel had a nice column today that was pretty much spot on. Seeing "Nebraska" alongside the names Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio St. during a tournament in March is nothing to take for granted.
  22. We straightened out Byrd, Craft is next.... Huskers 62- OSU 57
  23. New York makes sense, also Philly and now D.C. Would love to see it in the Big O, but I'm afriaid the suits still view us as far to "Hee Haw" & too far away.
  24. Shavon's post-game interview with Jim Jackson was priceless. His unbridled, little kid enthusiasm for the game and the win made me smile. We're playin' with house money now Cornhuskers, so let's keep it rollin'!
  25. Dead Dog Alley? (I still have the T-shirt)
