  1. The point I was making was that as soon as the 1 year extensions started, it supported the perception that Miles was on the hot seat and would not be around much longer. That does not help recruiting. I don't think that should be interpreted as he can't recruit, but rather it is hard to recruit when you are in a lame duck situation.
  2. Two years ago Miles received a 1 year extension. The one year extension was announced and Coach Hunter left shortly thereafter. People on this board even commented that Hunter could see the writing on the wall and left. Xavior Johnson soon decommitted. That's when recruiting dropped off.
  3. If Miles was going to be retained, Moos would have said so in his announcement 45 minutes after our B1G tourney loss to Wisconsin. Maybe Moos needs to negotiate the contract with Miles before it is announced.
  4. How about "IF" Karrington Davis didn't tear his Achillies. Lots of people had him playing quite a bit.
  5. I'm watching the Penn St - Illinois game right now. Every body on both teams are quicker than S*** and very athletic. I have a had time believing that there are any Nebraska high school BBall players who can compete at this level, and these teams are at the bottom of the Big 10. Maybe if Nebraska could get 10 to15 to walk on, we could get 1 or 2 roll players!
  6. Let's just throw in the fantasy that a 6-10 4* power forward commits.
  7. Might be wrong, but I thought Tanner had a Regents Scholarship.
  8. Last nights game looked like a team that hasn't learned how to win on the road. Bad spacing, not moving on offense and just passive. Waiting for a person to do something rather than working as a team. First half of game with Missouri State was similar.
  9. In the 1-3-1 with Roby at top, Nana was in the middle. Maybe this will hide Nana's defense weakness.
  10. Starters have lots of experience playing together. What we need is for the bench subs to mold into good role players. The defense can't drop off and then they have to perform well enough on offense so that they have to be guarded. I expect to see lots of different rotations to find out the strong team and the team that doesn't work as well.
  11. Substitution plan with 8 man Rotation each half Clock Clock Clock Clock Clock Clock TOTAL 20:00 16:00 12:00 8:00 4:00 0:00 Min Roster STARTERS Min Played Min Played Min Played Min Played Min Played 1 16 Glynn Watson 4* Glynn Watson 4 Glynn Watson 4 Glynn Watson 4 Glynn Watson 4 2 16 Allen, Thomas 4* Allen, Thomas 4 Allen, Thomas 4 Allen, Thomas 4 Allen, Thomas 4 3 16 James Palmer 4* James Palmer 4 James Palmer 4 James Palmer 4 James Palmer 4 4 16 Issac Copeland 5* Issac Copeland 4 Issac Copeland 4 Issac Copeland 4 Issac Copeland 4 5 16 Isaiah Roby 4* Isaiah Roby 4 Isaiah Roby 4 Isaiah Roby 4 Isaiah Roby 4 6 8 Amir Harris Amir Harris 4 Amir Harris 4 7 8 Nana Akenten Nana Akenten 4 Nana Akenten 4 8 4 Tanner Borchardt Tanner Borchardt 4 9 0 Dedoch Chan 10 0 Thorir Thorbjarnarson 11 0 Brady Heiman Based on these assumptions: 100 Starters play ~32 Min per game. Harris - Strong on Defense, Offense, not so much. Look for him to post up near the basket and let shooters set on the perimeter. Remember Jason Dourisseau. When he had the ball, there were 5 people guarding 4. Nana - Strong on Offense, set up on the 3 pt line. Should open up the middle. Defense, unknown. Tanner - Should be better than last year. As you can see, their are a lot of questions to answer as to the strengths of the subs and how to put them into the rotation.
  12. Sounds like it will take at least $125,000 to "buy" a top basketball player. Throw in a car and a good job and it's a done deal.

I think Chan can score! Only thing might be if he is quick enough for the big ten. Take a look at his body. His legs are long and his body (hip to shoulder) is short. Makes me think he can play taller than 6'8.
  14. De'Quon Lake committed to AZ ST in March 2017 because they had playing time available. At that time we had Jordy and Copeland. We got Doby in April with the thought he would only play 5-10 Minutes. I don't know if we were interested in him, but he probably wasn't interested in Nebraska because of playing time.
  15. Just looked at the video of Karrington, and wow can he shoot. Great stroke. Only unknowns seem to be his recovery from an injury and can he adjust to college play. Then I was curious as to what ever happened to Nana. I went back to his Topic and reread all the nice posts. IE: Comments like, "Best player on the best team in Illinois" etc. This board seems to have cooled on him a lot in the last year. I don't know people close to the team, I can only read internet info. Went to all the games last year and only saw him play a few minutes. It seemed to me that he was the 10th man on a very strong 9 man rotation. That didn't make him a bad player, just behind some very good players. Check out this video. This guy is lethal shooting 3's. On offense all he would have to do is move around the perimeter, shoot a few 3's and let the team play 4 on 4. He has had a year to adjust to college play. Now it is reported that he is working hard on his game. Since he didn't leave, I'm thinking the coaches have challenged to improve. I think Nana could be the surprise for this year. http://www.hudl.com/profile/6500304/Nana-Akenten
  16. I recall Kimani Ffriend passing the ball inbounds after a basket to Cookie Belcher and then running down court to the basket. Cookie dribbled to the center court and passed the ball to Kimani who dunked the pass into the basket. Maybe not a great dunk, but what an athletic play!
  17. Is Nana going to add about 10Lbs of Muscle this summer to his last year weight of 215 lbs?
  18. That is one only Tim Miles can answer... Sorry for any inconvenience I remember Robe getting into foul trouble often early in the season, so he had to set on the bench. At the start of the year he moved to playing Center and also quit fouling. His minutes went up.
  19. Why not a project? I'd have no problem, if when we get close to the start of classes and the 'ship is still open offering it to someone like Shereef Mitchell or someone like that. If a scholarship is available: Just thinking about 2019. With all the seniors on this years team leaving, we will need quality players in 2019. Not sure we will want to rely on projects that might be able to compete after a redshirt year. Why take a person who will only offer a body for practice? We have seen a number of recruits come here who are not quick enough to play defense or can't shoot. They sit on the bench and usually leave. Take a look at other big 10 recruits. They are 3, 4 and 5 stars. Its a big uphill battle for a project to develop and offer competition to those teams. Thats why I say hold out for a quality recruit, not just take a body to use up a scholarship.
  20. Christian is 6-8", 230 lbs. A quality recruit, However, I don't see it happening. When he would play, Roby, Copeland,or Palmer would be setting. Not sure there are enough minutes availaible for him to want to come here and then would not add much additional value to us at that position. We need the quality recruit to be available in 2019.
  21. Keeping an open scholarship was the reason we got Copeland. That seemed to work out pretty good. Only reason to use the last scholarship would be if a QUALITY recruit will accept it. Don't use it to pick up a project.
  22. Correct me if I am wrong, and I am sure someone will, But I think I read in the World Herald that Brady has a reach of over 9' and has a 31" or more vertical jump. If true, that is ridiculous athletic for someone 7'0. Sure, he needs more strength, but it sounds to me that he is more like a taller Roby. I can''t wait till he weighs over 230.
  23. It seems to me that we should keep either Copeland or Roby in the game at all times. Copeland has been starting, then Roby subs for him. They both play together late in the game when you want the best team on the floor. Now they both get close to 30+ minutes and the team is at its best strength the whole game. That leaves about 20 minutes a game at the 5 position for the Centers.
