Pregame Discussion: Nebraska (9-7) vs. Michigan (11-5) - 1/14/17
kldm64 replied to 49r's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Might disagree a little bit that it's not a "must win". I just base that on the stretch we have coming up where we play @Northwestern, Purdue, Michigan State, @Iowa, & Wisconsin. It's possible we could go 0-5 during that stretch so when you get games that are more winnable than others like Michigan, you have to capitalize on those. It we can win our next 3 games @Michigan, Ohio State, and @Rutgers, that would put us at 6-1 before we head into that tough stretch. So that is why I think Michigan as well as Ohio State and Rutgers are "must win" games. -
Ok, I have to ask how the University stopped the fans from do the Husker Power chant? They don't have any control over the fans or students who are free to chant or yell whatever they want during opposing team introduction. Me personally, I'd rather see us do better with our player intro video and when teams comes on the court.

A look at Nebrasketball's 2017-2018 Roster
kldm64 replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
with a roster like this, there are no more excuses not to be competing for Conference Championships!!! -
If you by chance have a free single ticket for game on Sunday, I would be interested in that
-
Actually smart and brilliant
-
Guessing that doesn't include all the "extra" fees they tack on. Just out of curiosity, I looked and found tickets for $6 but when go to checkout, they are $9.70 a piece.

And the fact that we only played Freshman off our bench last night... -
Miles Just Punched His Ticket Today

Totally agree and well stated!!! -
Why would that move Jack up to a Guard? It will move Evan Taylor to the 1 or 2 spot to rotate with Watson and Webster and leave Horne, McVeigh, and Roby at the 3.

The "we are young" excuse is getting old. I heard that last year as well that we are young and now hearing it again this year. I don't consider us that young due to how much playing time the sophomore class got last year and we have a senior and 2 juniors that get a lot of minutes also. I don't disagree that it is overall a young team but that is a reflection of the head coach not building his roster correctly. To me, this season won't be a success is we don't make any post season play. This is Coach Miles 5th year and he couldn't build on the success he had in his 2nd year. He was the national coach of the year, we make the NCAA tournament and then it's been downhill ever since. There is no reason we shouldn't be at least making the NIT at this point in his tenure. I'm a huge Coach Miles fan but he needs to start producing. We lost all the momentum we had a few years ago.

Miles Just Punched His Ticket Today

I agree but what was there to get excited about? Hard to have any atmosphere with the offense we run. It's almost like we have Doc Sadler as a secret consultant to be our offensive coordinator. I'm not anticipating Miles will survive after this season. If you remove the 2nd half of the 2014 season, he has done nothing here. Amazing how his jokes and humor aren't as funny anymore. Maybe we just need to spend some money and hire Craig Smith back as our assistant head coach. -
BOOM!!! Drop the mic...

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 9, Ed 10 - Kansas

And he finished the quote with "and it's your job to prove me wrong" -
Don't quite get why you think it's so weird. They have a very loyal fan base with some pregame and post game rituals. It's pretty awesome. Certainly better than listening to NU band play Mr. Touchdown USA at every football game. That's just boring!!!
-
Gotta say that being at Allen Fieldhouse for the game was incredible. Tickets were very pricey but worth it. The atmosphere is unlike anywhere else in college basketball. There were a lot of NU fans that made the trip. Lawrence is a fun town and strongly encourage everyone to put attending a KU home game on their bucket list.

I think Miles was sending a strong message to the starters that your job isn't guaranteed. Watson will remain a starter but could easily see McVeigh getting replaced in the starting lineup by Roby or Evans. I don't think you start Jody due to foul issues and just leave Jacobson as your starter. -
I was there. It was incredible. It was like the Volleyball version of "no sit Sunday"

I'm a huge Tim Miles supporter but my patience is starting to run thin for several reasons: 1) Ever since the hire of Coach Molinari, all we preach now is defense. That was the kiss of death for Doc. 2) Coach Miles seems to be willing to sacrifice playing time to players who are offensively better to players who he thinks are better on defensively. 3) Miles currently has a 68 - 70 record at NU overall and a 27 - 45 conference record. Yes, that is a .375 conference winning percentage. 4) Other than our tournament run year, he has finished 10th, 11th and 12th place in the conference standings. 5) No offensive flow or even notion that we are running an offense. Standing at half-court and waiting till 10 seconds left to call for a pick and roll every time isn't working. We did that with Terran and now doing it with Tai and expecting them to make a play while rest of team stands around. No ball movement at all. 6) Becoming a very boring style of basketball to watch and it is showing in how dead the crowds are. Nothing exciting to cheer about. 7) We fired Doc for not being competitive but Doc had a overall winning percentage of .532 at NU while Miles is currently at .493. Doc had 6 year and Miles is in his 5th year. With all that said, I think the loss of Craig Smith was a much bigger deal than anyone ever expected. I'm still pulling for Coach Miles to get it done here but could understand why AD would decide to make a move and hire his own coach based on Miles numbers. I'm still not ready to give up on this team as long way to go and we were 9-9 a few years back and made the tournament. Anything can happen.

#creightonhateweek Enough said
-
Worst idea ever!!! We would get killed if we just put Patton on the line all night. Give them free points and get most our team in foul trouble. Brillant

My issues is the page keeps moving/dropping after I open it and it just continues to creep downward. Happens about 1/2 the time so hard to be on the site for me much anymore due to this.

Nebraska (4-0) vs. UCLA (5-0) Game Thread

It wasn't the amount of minutes he played but rather the point in the game he played them that I didn't like. -

Couldn't agree more. Have no idea what he was doing on the floor at that point in the game. Roby needs to start getting some of Jack's minutes and see who wants to play and contribute more. It was like playing 4 on 5 with Jack on the floor last night. -
Zach Hanson from Creighton tore a tendon and ligaments in his ankle and will miss up to two months.

I agree with nustudent that CU is loaded with talent and might be the best and most complete team CU has ever put together. They can beat you in so many ways and are doing it with a couple of local kids getting a ton of minutes. That is one frustration with NU is they don't recruit Omaha kids like Thomas and Patton. Both are solid players. I don't expect NU to beat CU this year but I hope like hell it happens. They are clearly a better team but it would be pretty painful for the NU fan base and Miles personally to take a beating from them again. And if I had to predict right now, I'd bet we lose by 20+ points. I sure our staff and players prove me wrong.
