  1. You honestly don't see us being light years ahead of Doc in recruiting? How many 4 star players did Doc recruit.......ZERO. Next year, we are going to have a roster full of them. That is being light years ahead of previous staff in recruiting.
  2. I am so going to this game at KU. Best atmosphere in college basketball.
  3. We couldn't even beat Purdue so not sure we want to be tangling with KU either......Might just add another loss to the record.
  4. That's a pretty bold statement saying he's a "once in a generation in-state talent". There have been players way better than Ed Chang in state in the past generation. I'm not saying Ed isn't a good player but that might be setting the bar a little high with praise like that.
  5. Just curious where you are getting this information that it appears we are set to play an away game against KU next year?
  6. Totally disagree. I think we still have a good shot at the NIT. If we can win 6 of our last 8 games (which is doable), we would finish the regular season at 18-13. There are plenty of teams that get an NIT bid with records like that. Heck, we could even go 2-1 in the Big 10 tournament and finish with a 20-14 record for the year. Nothing is impossible at this point.
  7. Why do you hate Calipari? Like him or not, the dude wins a lot of games every year.
  8. As much as I'd love to have KU on our schedule again, I don't think we are anywhere on their radar to want to play NU. They would have nothing to gain and everything to lose.
  9. I agree. It will take a good effort but do think we can go 5-5 to finish out the conference schedule. That would put us 9-9 in conference play and 17-14 overall. Not a great overall record but with a top half finish in the Big 10, I think it would get us in the NIT.
  10. As we say in Nebraska Basketball.......there's always next year.
  11. I would say we have a real shot at making the NIT instead of the CBI.
  12. That one-point loss still sticks in my craw. Gahhhhhh Especially when they hit a half court shot to end the 1st half.
  13. No Sit Sunday can't be duplicated. It was a special time and special moment that prompted us into the NCAA tournament. To attempt to do it in mid-season just wouldn't have the same feel to it.
  14. That is the only game I don't think we stand much of a chance of winning due to matchup problems. But at this point, I wouldn't count NU out of any game. I think Maryland is the tougher matchup because at points Purdue has very erratic guard play. Agree but I'm more worried about their two 7-footers than I am their guards. We are going to have a hard time stopping both their big men.

  16. I agree the season needs to play out as it could change a lot between now and then. Just curious what you mean by Shavon leads the team as an all-around performer?
  17. Just curious what peoples thoughts are on if anyone from Nebraska will make any "All Big 10 Conference" teams at the end of the season based on what we've seen so far. Right now, I'd say: Andrew White - 2nd team Shavon Shields - Honorable mention Glynn Watson - All freshman team
  18. I guess I'm more worried about whether we win the game or not as oppose to what color of t-shirts the students wear. As long as they are loud and crazy and cheer for Nebraska, I don't really care what color their shirt is.
  19. Wouldn't disagree, but where do we get the scholarships? TBD. We've seen attrition every year, I'd imagine we'll see it again. I have no doubt we'll see it again this year. Miles isn't going to keep a player not contributing and lose out on a player that can contribute. It's probably never a fun conversation but this is Big Boy basketball. Unless kids like Hammond can magically get a lot better in the off-season, he is going to find more pine time than court time.
  20. Who offered first doesn't make any difference at all. He seems pretty happy he got an offer from NU. I'm sure it won't be the last offer he gets.
  21. I think they all have the green light to shoot. It's just whether or not they want or feel confident enough to pull the trigger.
  22. Guessing Benny is 2nd and Tai is 3rd
  23. Miss out on a recruit, fire the coach. Yea, that's a great solution.... I'm not happy where the program is right now either but let's step back and take a look at the big picture. This is only his 4th year as our head coach and it wasn't like the cupboard was stacked full of talent when he arrived. In his 3 full years as our head coach, he took us to an NCAA bid which we hadn't have for 16 years. He has also vastly improved recruiting efforts in the last year which should pay off in the years to come. How many 4 star players did we sign before he got here???? How about none!!! So we missed out on this kid, we will just try with another one instead. It happens. I truly understand the concerns with Miles and coaching ever since Craig Smith left. I have my concerns as well that maybe Smith was the brains behind the operation. Give the guy a break as anyone would struggle is they had an assistant with them for a number of years and then he is gone. It's a learning process for him also. Think about if you had a "kick ass" secretary that did everything for you for a long time and then she decided to leave. You would struggle for a bit until you got things figured out again on how to do them without that person doing it for you. I still have total faith in Miles that he will get this program where we all want it to be.
  24. I honestly believe the next 3 games (Rutgers, Minnesota, Illinois) are winnable games and then things get tougher again. Would be nice to get back to .500 in conference play but even if we win those three, the next games would be: Michigan St, Michigan, Purdue and Maryland.....OUCH
  25. Good post. I would really have liked to seen what this team would be like if Petteway had stayed but can't dwell on what might have been. I still think the future is very bright and hopefully if they can all get on the same page and more players can all step up at the same time, we could be pretty solid. I do totally agree with you that Shavon is very easy to stop based on the current roster. Terran help open up the driving lanes for him last year. He is finding it harder to score when you are one of the focal points of our offense.
