  1. I agree. It will take a good effort but do think we can go 5-5 to finish out the conference schedule. That would put us 9-9 in conference play and 17-14 overall. Not a great overall record but with a top half finish in the Big 10, I think it would get us in the NIT.
  2. As we say in Nebraska Basketball.......there's always next year.
  3. I would say we have a real shot at making the NIT instead of the CBI.
  4. That one-point loss still sticks in my craw. Gahhhhhh Especially when they hit a half court shot to end the 1st half.
  5. No Sit Sunday can't be duplicated. It was a special time and special moment that prompted us into the NCAA tournament. To attempt to do it in mid-season just wouldn't have the same feel to it.
  6. That is the only game I don't think we stand much of a chance of winning due to matchup problems. But at this point, I wouldn't count NU out of any game. I think Maryland is the tougher matchup because at points Purdue has very erratic guard play. Agree but I'm more worried about their two 7-footers than I am their guards. We are going to have a hard time stopping both their big men.

  8. I agree the season needs to play out as it could change a lot between now and then. Just curious what you mean by Shavon leads the team as an all-around performer?
  9. Just curious what peoples thoughts are on if anyone from Nebraska will make any "All Big 10 Conference" teams at the end of the season based on what we've seen so far. Right now, I'd say: Andrew White - 2nd team Shavon Shields - Honorable mention Glynn Watson - All freshman team
  10. I guess I'm more worried about whether we win the game or not as oppose to what color of t-shirts the students wear. As long as they are loud and crazy and cheer for Nebraska, I don't really care what color their shirt is.
  11. Wouldn't disagree, but where do we get the scholarships? TBD. We've seen attrition every year, I'd imagine we'll see it again. I have no doubt we'll see it again this year. Miles isn't going to keep a player not contributing and lose out on a player that can contribute. It's probably never a fun conversation but this is Big Boy basketball. Unless kids like Hammond can magically get a lot better in the off-season, he is going to find more pine time than court time.
  12. Who offered first doesn't make any difference at all. He seems pretty happy he got an offer from NU. I'm sure it won't be the last offer he gets.
  13. I think they all have the green light to shoot. It's just whether or not they want or feel confident enough to pull the trigger.
  14. Guessing Benny is 2nd and Tai is 3rd
  15. Miss out on a recruit, fire the coach. Yea, that's a great solution.... I'm not happy where the program is right now either but let's step back and take a look at the big picture. This is only his 4th year as our head coach and it wasn't like the cupboard was stacked full of talent when he arrived. In his 3 full years as our head coach, he took us to an NCAA bid which we hadn't have for 16 years. He has also vastly improved recruiting efforts in the last year which should pay off in the years to come. How many 4 star players did we sign before he got here???? How about none!!! So we missed out on this kid, we will just try with another one instead. It happens. I truly understand the concerns with Miles and coaching ever since Craig Smith left. I have my concerns as well that maybe Smith was the brains behind the operation. Give the guy a break as anyone would struggle is they had an assistant with them for a number of years and then he is gone. It's a learning process for him also. Think about if you had a "kick ass" secretary that did everything for you for a long time and then she decided to leave. You would struggle for a bit until you got things figured out again on how to do them without that person doing it for you. I still have total faith in Miles that he will get this program where we all want it to be.
  16. I honestly believe the next 3 games (Rutgers, Minnesota, Illinois) are winnable games and then things get tougher again. Would be nice to get back to .500 in conference play but even if we win those three, the next games would be: Michigan St, Michigan, Purdue and Maryland.....OUCH
  17. Good post. I would really have liked to seen what this team would be like if Petteway had stayed but can't dwell on what might have been. I still think the future is very bright and hopefully if they can all get on the same page and more players can all step up at the same time, we could be pretty solid. I do totally agree with you that Shavon is very easy to stop based on the current roster. Terran help open up the driving lanes for him last year. He is finding it harder to score when you are one of the focal points of our offense.
  18. I agree with the previous post that Parker is getting to many minutes. He is offensively challenged as well as can't finish if he does happen to drive. He doesn't have very good court vision in finding the open shooters and is a liability on defense when they set a pick and we switch. Benny has a role on this team but should only be playing about 15 minutes a game.
  19. It is extremely frustrating to be 0-3 in conference play right now. I'm trying to look at the bright side of our loss last night. We went 7:35 minutes without a point in the first half and they got to the foul line 32 times to only 16 for us and we only lost by 11 points on the road.
  20. That would work if we wanted him to play in 2 years Maybe he can consult with Grant Gibbs and see how he ended up with 7 years of eligibility
  21. Just think how good this year's team would be with Terran. Having him and White on the same team with Shields being your 3 option to score, we'd be a pretty solid bunch. Without Terran and reaching the NCAA tournament, we wouldn't able to recruit all the 4 star kids that have committed here. He has had a huge impact on NU basketball.
  22. Those are awesome and what college sports atmospheres should be like.
  23. The 3 clap has got to go. I get so mad at people around us that do it. That is about as lame as you can get. Miles has got to figure out a rotation. It was mind boggling the players on the court at the end of the game and the subbing pattern. Our coaching has been less than stellar this season.
  24. How long before Robin puts out article (for a price) that we are at the top of his list after his visit.
  25. You want Miles to play Morrow at the 4 like Pardon but Pardon wasn't playing the 4 yesterday...he and Van Zegeren were playing the 5. Pardon looked like a million bucks because he hasn't been injured, hasn't been worn down playing, and we didn't have much of a true 5 to throw at him. Having to grind against Diamond Stone next game should bring him back down to earth. At what point are you watching Morrow and thinking "Boy, let's run some offense around him" as opposed to just thinking he has to be better because he was in high school? Sure we could run him at the 4 so he would pick up less fouls but then what exactly is he going to bring at the offensive end that compels you to do that? I don't think he's above Benny in terms of offensive firepower at the moment. Great post as I was thinking the same thing. Whether Ed is asked to play the 4 or 5 is not going to make that much difference. It appears the game is moving a little fast for him right now.
