Who didn't see this one coming........hard pass!!!
-
So you think if you look back at a ref for 2 seconds (not stare him down) and then run down the court and not say a word that warrants getting T'd up? I've seen players as well as coaches act way worse and not get T'd up. Sorry, I totally disagree with you. That is just a bad ref who missed the call trying to show up a player.
-
So you lost faith in this kid because he had a 7 point, 12 rebound game? He is averaging 13 ppg and 8 rounds a game while shooting 52% from the field. I'm not sure he will start for us next year but think he will develop into a solid player.
-
Would you really expect him to? That no different than Fred saying he won't vote for Branham which nobody would fault him for. Don't make it a bigger deal than it is as Holtmann praised Bryce but just said he wouldn't vote for him (cause he is voting for his own player). I would expect any coach do that the same. Both players are very deserving but can see where you have a bigger impact on a winning team. You can look at it several ways but right now, Bryce's impact is not equating to wins.

I know some high school coaches who also coach on AAU circuit. It sounds like Matt A hasn't been out recruiting much. Not sure if you have noticed that Loenser has been out to watch most the recruits lately which used to be what Matt did. Obviously there will be some hard conversations at the end of the year and things can change depending on what Fred ultimately decides.
-
It doesn't sound like it.
-
According to Trev and just like football, Fred presented his vision for the program and changes that needed to be made to get this thing corrected. I've heard that Matt A will definitely be gone at the end of the season but haven't heard of any other changes. Besides coaching changes, wonder what other changes will be heading our way?
-
Enjoy sitting on your couch watching the games instead of at PBA. I had planned to renew my tickets regardless of who the coach was next year.

Go back to sleep, your dreaming.

How can you not see the Frost/Hoiberg comparisons? They were both "home run" hires and have both completely under-achieved at Nebraska. I don't care if Frost played teams close as I'm not in for participation ribbons. Both coaches have been horrible so far.
-
And Frost told us the entire conference was going to have to adjust to them. I've stopped drinking the Kool-aid for anything with men's athletics at Nebraska until they prove it on the field.
-
No question Tim wasn't an outstanding coach but I'd take his level of success for his first 3 years at Nebraska any day over the level of success that Fred has had. Fred looks absolutely lost and doesn't seem to have a clue how to coach or what to do to fix the teams issues. And for those saying how well Hoiberg is recruiting, I'd take a look at some of the talent Tim brought here as well. Fred has the national brand name recognition but only producing 7 wins a season isn't going to get better talent here that what we have now. I'll support whoever the coach is next year but based on what I've seen on the court, I'd take Tim's teams any day over any of Fred's first three teams.
-
Like Tim or not, you are 100% correct. Tim make it cool to be a Nebraska Basketball fan and no other coach in the past 30 years you can say that about. One of my favorite lines from Tim was if the person behind you tells you to sit down, you just tell them Tim said I don't have to. I will also forever be grateful for No Sit Sunday as one the best sporting events I have ever been to.

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 14; ed 26 - vs. Maryland

I still attend games and one of the few hundred that actually stay till the end. I've never seen attendance this bad since PBA opened. No question the place is less than 50% full and we have a 5 star on the roster to watch. I remember watching some really bad and boring basketball over at Devaney with Collier and Doc coaching but this level of play and fan involvement is at an all time low. You literally have to whisper talking in the stands or they will hear you from across the arena. -
Why would it be dumb to fire Hoiberg? He is 21-62 at Nebraska and never won more than 7 games in a year. Not 7 conference game but 7 games overall. Let me say that again.......7 total games in a season. Not sure it would be a dumb move to expect better results.
-
I'd take him in heartbeat but doubt he would leave Rutgers to take a job in the same conference.
-
I agree with you but isn't this why 99% of the coaches take a job for the paycheck? Coaches leave all the time for a better payday. I doubt we are going to find a really good qualified coach that is dying to coach at Nebraska because he wants to be here. It will take a huge paycheck to convince someone they want to coach at Nebraska.
-
I'll add that as an option. Do you have a suggestion of a name to add to the list?
-
Obviously, this list doesn't every include candidate but if you were the NU athletic director, and you have already made the decision to let Fred go, who are you going after as Nebraska's next head coach either from this list or elsewhere?

At this point, if things keep going this way ...
kldm64 replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Clearly Doc needs to go. He bring no value at all. Regardless of how well the other assistants are doing, at least one of them will have to go. There is no way you can sell bringing back all your assistants doing the same thing and expect different results. Fred is going to have to make some changes in several aspects of this program. That is assuming he is giving one more year which is not a guarantee at this point. -
Shut Up Sipple! - Why Fred Should have at least 5 years
kldm64 replied to NUdiehard's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Not even sure Fred has a system as it's more playing street ball than a system. -
Why do you think Fred is still the man for the job? I know he came into a tough situation but we should not be as bad as we are at this point. He had experienced players returning this year and a top 20 recruiting class and we are the worst team in the conference by far and one of the worst teams in the country. I was all in on Fred but have have seen no improvements during the year to make me think that moving forward with Fred is the right move. I was ready to start building at statue of Fred when they hired him but after the results I've seen the past 3 years, I'm not sure Fred it the right coach moving forward.
-
True but like most good competitors, he assumed him and Trey could get NU to the tournament this year and then he gets the best of both worlds. Just didn't work out so now he has to re-evaluate his options.

And in my opinion, this is the beginning of the end of college sports as we know it. NIL is the worst thing ever to happen to college sports.
