And on the 8th day, God booted Keisei outta the draft and back to school. And it was good.

How does this years roster stack up to last years?
tcp replied to huskerbill85's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
What?! I mean, dude, there can, like, only maybe be one? Ah, hell, I skipped it, too. -
people don't evolve on our timetables, which we normally understand in every other life context except athletics. you have to judge these moves based on how they look at the time. you can only hit paydirt on a crystal ball so much. It usually dovetails nicely with sheer luck.

if you loiter long enough--oops, now I'm doing it....

if someone uproots their life to come and wear my school's colors, I'll get their back as long as they're not behaaving like a two-legged crime spree. it's uncoommon that decisions like thiis are made in a vacuum. i'm confident that the staff gave him every support possible.

this was me. adding that he was going to be bringing 2-3 cousins with him.

OT (Kinda?): NSAA, Class A/B Conferences, OPS, etc...
tcp replied to basketballjones's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
This requires a longer response than I can make at the moment. It gets at the very heart of the question as to whether or not competition can be a social good at all. The Greeks, I think, answered this question nicely enough. But being sophists, their answer is lengthy. Remind me to take a shot at it when I feel better, which should be about wednesday. -

this is part of a broader problem in education which is the selective degradation of the *idea* of public education. obviously it will affect sports as well. we're trending backwards to a time where education itself was the province of the well off and everyone else can teach their kids how to start in coal mines at the age of 7. the transformation of high school sports to a miniature version of free agency is only the harbinger of more to come if it's not stopped soon. i honestly never thought i'd live to see this sort of revanchism in my lifetime. what's happened in high school sports has been the proverbial canary in the, well, coalmine. -
good thing matt had Joba covered. I was down to my last chicken.

what a great thread....I love it when we collectively go bitter like this. :) best way to start getting these players is to be successful. -
I wonder what ChatGPT's ft percentage is? Should have lots of eligibility left.... I am so glad for my mortality. It's all gonna end with HAL: "I'm sorry, Dave. I can''t let you do that.."

tough year for the B1G. and don't forget we finished near the bottom. this ain't gonna be an easy climb.

i guess i should probably enter the portal, too. seems like everyone' social life improves dramatically after the event.

krissa's ecentric, not a nut. he reminds me of my bandmates back in the day. don't be afraid of a little personality.

Nice 'bago, Doc. Next time I pass thru Norman I'll keep an eye out for it.

it would likely dry up several hundred athletic scholarships for seniors in high schools every year. the extra year at the end means there's also one fewer going out that year. not sure how that might play out, but i could see it impacting marginal players the most. this take, by the way, isn't so much a hot one as it is a highly medicated one. but i just couldn't help but think what goes up must also come down.

just coming in for last rites for the jays. Rest in Pieces.

let's just do a big random drawing of all players every year and randomize every team. sure it's chaotic, but think of the possibilities! half the NCAA is going into the portal every season, let's just finish the job.

someone's ready for a change in scenery....

Or maybe a copy of Shelly West's forgotten gem, "Jose Ramos was a friend of mine..."
