this whole thing feels like a choo choo barely hanging on the tracks...the NCAA has to be wishing it had an anti-trust exemption about now.... Edit: i acutally thought they were exempt....but that explains why NIL exists....so of course now there are people trying to get an exemption like that passed so they can put the NIL genie back in the bottle again... going to be an interesting couple of years ahead to see if some sort of peace can be had between two deeply incompatible interests... anyhoo, sorry for veering off with this comment....just wanted to fix my initial screw up... hopefully this can be a decent standalone thread somewhere appropriate...

But a huge gain for the Bates Motel!!

Have Nebraska's congressional delegation lobby for legislation that grants all Japanese nationals in college atheltics an added year of eleigibility as a gesture of goodwill and friendship. That's about the only idea I got left....

Or, if they prefer more contemporary prose, they could always dig into Chiraq from Spike Lee. Still one of the great Greek plays of all time. 'No nookie for you, Testicles!"

What type of player would we want if we only had one spot available

You don't turn down a talent like Pike. Pike in this team this year? That's a likely Sweet 16 team. -
this is one i didn't want to happen....bummer....

Our offense still scored 80 some points against a pretty stout A&M team. Offense wasn't our problem. Getting the homing beacon off our opponents every shot was.

Buzz is a helluva coach. -
this tournament owes us some luck of the good variety in sizeable quantites. i suspect it's going to be the time when we get our first win...and then our 2d, 3rd, etc..... Hopefully Fred's bldg a program, and not just the team that goes every few years so there's not this level of epic pressure every decade.

If I could change some things about college basketball...
tcp replied to KZRider's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
these things tend to go in cycles...the ncaa is a reactionary institution....it's primary purpose is to protect itself and perpetuate its authority and influence. This is pretty much poli sci 401. As all pendulums do, when this one reaches it's zenith, it begings the long trip back and we do this all over again.... there were some impressively low scores this year, and that always creates issues with so-called casual fans who, ostensibly, prefer offense over defense (in every sport, btw). And as these scores dip, the NCAA will look t the stats on viewership and popularity and adjust again by doing half the things you mention. in some ways, the best coaches are the ones that have a really good crystal ball and can see trends.... -
enjoy your day on the links, big fella...take out a squirrel for me....

We scored enough points to win nearly any other game in the tourney. So there's that... But man, we almost gave up a century! And that I cannot, cannot suffer. SHooting like that all game isn't luck. It's a fundamnetla flaw in how a team is playing on D. I said in the threa,d that I can't make anyjudgements about anything for the game until I see some helpfully placed videos. But when I'm reading stuff like "no one's going after balls on the ground" and some other posts in-game that implied we weren't busting our rumps the way we need to to win, I start getting crotchety. It really seems like this team stopped playing hard as soon as they loicked up the bid by pounding Indiana. There were several comments, even in that video, focusing on just the fact of the bid. Then I see comments by two coaches about complacency and remining players the season isn't over....who the hell says that to a team fired up by being in the Dance? I'm sure I'll see and read more about the effort put forth....and if it turns out these dudes were just satisfied already and "happy to be there", then I'm gonna be pissy for a bit. You play in my schools colors, I expect you to play hard. ESPECIALLY when it's in the frigging Tourney! -

keisei gave far more to this program than it gave to him...we'll miss him a great deal. not just as a player, but as a person. he was a terrific ambassador for my alma mater. and that matters to me. -

I can't root against Buzz, 'cause I love the dude as a coach. We gave up 98 points to a team and you're not winning games like that unless you're Loyola under Westhead. I hope I'm alive next year to see the big one. Clock's ticking...loud. -
Texas A&M (20-14) vs. Nebraska (23-10) Game Thread

I think our staff tipped their hands earlier this week by spending locker room time talking about not resting on laurels way too much. This was a vibe that the staff was worried about. I think they were happy with defeating the predictions about themselves prior to the season and that seemed to be their dominant motiviation, and when they proved they weren't 13th place, they closed up shop. They're not the first team to do that. It happens in this tourney to underdogs pretty frequently after upsets. A&M came into this tourney hungry. I could see it in Buzz' presser. I just never saw that from our guys. -

well, I'm actually not even feeling upset....i'm not putting any more emotional effort into this than they are. and besides, work calls, and we got real lives to protect....:) it'll be interesting reading the aftermath of this debacle... -

In short, they're being the better version of themselves, we're definitely not. For me, my wrath is only reserved for lack of effort, and I can't determine that from score scrolls.....so.... -

At this point, I'm just cnfused as to what's happening....all I know is that in half a half they haven't cut into even a single point of a massive lead, and that tells me that A&M is basically toying with them like you dothe little brother trying to wrestle you and you just keep pushing their forhead and they can't reach you
