good lord, really? i started at West the very year they opened up--1977-1978. And Richards was coaching then. And we stunk, except for Darryl Stovall. But....2? In over 40 years? Damn, that's some kind of continuity. But then again, it's high school teachers, so I suppose it makes sense.

it wasn't a great year for the B1G. which is why being at or near the bottom of it kinda hurts.

they just have really high standards for admission. it's like coaching harvard or stanford. i can see that being an attraction for some personalities, and cal has had some success in sports, notably football not that long ago. you can keep that job a long time if you' just stay consistently above mediocre. :)

how many people 2 months ago thought we'd be playing meningful basketball in the final week of the season? Not I. And the only feeling I have today is gratitude to everyone associated with a beleaguered program that desperately needed something good. We got that. Thanks, hoopsters, for rescuing what was looking like a complete downer of a season. I, for one, am proud of you guys.

you drop that kind of height, you become xavier. and embracing that depends on how the height was before you dropped it. it's the old addition by subtraction thing that haunts pro sports when flurries of trades are made. and like the pros, I think we largely got lucky. you can't assume an alternate universe here--i think hoiberg was just due for a break.

seems lacking in star power from years past. I see it as a down year. others mileage may vary.
