  1. In what way does Cam Mack remind you of Andre?
  2. That Italy trip will really help things coalesce.
  3. Yeah. Starting a 17-year-old Euro kid at center from day 1 does not, on paper, sound like a good situation. But he has great size and a little bit of nasty in him. He could be our next NBA guy after Roby.
  4. These dudes close. According to Chris Basnett, Nebraska had 13 visitors since Hoiberg took over and got commits from 9 of them. And like with Curtis, he committed before he left. That's just amazing. Especially for a guy who hates recruiting. (j/k)
  5. Was Krampel J invited to the NBA Draft Combine? Because if he wasn't, I don't think that rule about not being drafted applies to him.
  6. If Isaiah came back, the expectation for next year would be that Thor would not. https://images.app.goo.gl/KqFAGB9xJmJkMRYg7
  7. Spoiler alert: The blond girl gets whacked.
  8. From the video, I still see concerns with his handles.
  9. Wow. No P5(6) schools on the list? What did we see in him that D1 college coaches don't?
  10. No small thing Cooley turned them down and Howard wasn't their first choice.
  11. Yes. Very true. He missed a crucial opportunity to employ a semicolon. That's almost unforgiveable.
  12. True. And Patrick Ewing at G'town had no prior head coaching experience. And Penny Hardaway had no prior head coaching experience before Memphis. We'll see how it works out for Juwan Howard. I'm generally skeptical of elevating guys to P5 head gigs without some experience to show that they have more than just a name. I'm glad Frost went the route of being a head coach somewhere else before coming here. The sample sizes are very small for Penny and Patrick, but it's seemed to work out well for their schools. Not so much for St. John's and Chris Mullin, however.
  13. Difference being that Frost and Harbaugh both had demonstrated, proven success as college head coaches before they returned as HCs to their alma maters.
  14. Emphasis on the word "one."
  15. Why did the reporter report the quote without correcting the record? Isn't that some kind of journalistic malfeasance?
  16. I was wondering if you'd heard anything that would suggest we're dumping anyone. Yeah, we're currently at 14, but that's gonna change at 12:01 a.m. on May 30 when Isaiah hasn't pulled his name from the draft. He's gonna stay in the draft, he's gonna get drafted, we'll be back to 13, and that will be that. Unless something changes. Which it could.
  17. Interesting question. Any particular reason you might be asking? My guess is (and this is just a guess) this time next year, he's no longer a new coach taking over a program with a roster built like someone else. My guess is the extra latitude that brings him ends at some point, probably when next school year begins. Of course, it's almost a moot issue in our case because they're almost all his players now. Almost.
  18. Both blonde. Both head coaches of major revenue sports at Nebraska. Both born in Nebraska. Both had a recent ancestor who coached athletics for the University of Nebraska. Both were star athletes coming out of high school. Both turned down scholarship offers from Tom Osborne to play quarterback at Nebraska. Both went onto careers in professional sports. Both coached in the professional ranks before coming to Nebraska. Both were successful college head coaches before coming to Nebraska. Both are considered offensive geniuses.
  19. GUYS I EXPECT TO BE HERE AND BE ELIGIBLE: BACKCOURT Haanif Cheatham 6'6 G Sr Dachon Burke 6'4 G Jr Jervay Green 6'3 G Jr Cam Mack 6'2 G So Samari Curtis 6'4 G Fr MIDCOURT Matej Kavas 6'8 G/F Sr Thorir Thorbjarnarson 6'6 G Jr Shamiel Stevenson 6'6 F So Akol Arop 6'6 F Fr FRONTCOURT Kevin Cross 6'8 F Fr Yvan Ouedraogo 6'9 F Fr Glaring hole in all of this is both front court players are true freshmen. We have some of what I'm calling midcourt players who could swing big. But those guys are either young (Stevenson, Arop) or not built to bang (Thor and Matej.) I think we needed one more grad transfer, and I think he needed to be a rim-running, shot-blocking big man. Maybe that guy will still materialize.
  20. TTech just added a 6-8 grad transfer PF and are still after a 2019 4-star HS PF.
  21. Not sure we have any room any longer. Why is he decommitting?
  22. Fortunately, Memphis can only have 13 players on scholarship at any given time, which means there will be plenty of sloppy seconds for us. But we're not without some recruiting drawing cards ourselves. While people might not recognize his name as much as Penny's, Hoiberg's name carries some cred. He not only played in the league, but he coached there, too. And when he coached in college, they won. And, in five seasons of college coaching, he can point to the names of half a dozen or so players that he coached to the league. Nebraska might not have the history and tradition of Memphis, but we're in a stronger conference and the Nebraska brand still carries some cachet. Plus, we have a lot better fan support with top 10-15 annual attendance. And our facilities and player amenities are among the best in the nation. So, in the things that would matter to potential recruits, we do have some things to sell them on. It'll be interesting to see if Penny can blend all that infusion of talent into a cohesive group this coming season. He's not lacking for talent so one could argue the results better be there, no excuses. But Penny has very little track record as a coach. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
  23. Memphis did roughly as well in year 1 of Penny as they did in year 2 of Tubby, after which Tubby was fired and replaced within a week by Penny.
  24. OK, let's get some common parlance straight. If I ask you to make me a drink, I'm not asking you to make me INTO a drink.
  25. I didn't even notice, to be honest. I was just trying to make a joke.
