  1. Tim Miles' plan was for us to make the dance in year 3 and we did it in year 2 instead (but then never again.) But in year 1, he was trying to deploy a roster that had some serious holes in it. Usually, with a coaching change, it takes some time -- a few full recruiting cycles, anyway -- for a coach to get "his" players in the program and have a chance to develop them to the point where you can say "this is what the finished product is going to look like." I'm not necessarily talking about the absolute finished product. More about at what point in time we have the pieces in place that we can say this is the kind of team we're expecting "the Hoiberg years" to look like. How long is that going to take?
  2. I was grouping by sequence of arrival and departure: last three guys out and most recent three in. (Also, I don’t think Harris’ skill set fits the PG role in the Hoiberg offense.)
  3. Our recruiting strategy going forward is to chase after guys being pursued by programs with ugly home courts.
  4. Except if he accidentally calls him “Chris.” ?
  5. Yvan is playing in the FIBA Euro championships in August. Won’t be here until after our Italy trip.
  6. I hope you're right. That's the way it ought to be.
  7. I really would like to know his playing status. How much time does he lose for having played in 4 games his sophomore year at Pitt? That wipes out his sophomore year. But then he has to sit a year as a transfer? Which would take him to mid-December when UN-L has commencement exercises for fall semester? And he'll come in as a junior with basically a year-and-a-half to finish his college career? If that's how it works out, it seems punitive. Seems like he should either sit until December and be considered a sophomore or be able to play right away as a junior. But to take away 1 1/2 years of eligibility because he played in 4 games as a sophomore before realizing that not transferring after the Pitt coaching change was a big mistake ... well, that seems excessive. Anyone clear this up for me?
  8. I really really think if they add anyone else at this point, that it's just grad transfers from here on out. I want as many spots available for that 2020 class as possible. We've made a lot of solid offers to a lot of solid players and, because of Hoiberg and his relationships, we might actually have a chance at landing a few of them.
  9. Luca Virgilio on the Husker roster today in place of Greg Eaton. No bio yet. Matt Holt still listed as video coordinator. I don't think this was any surprise. Best of luck to Greg Eaton. It's probably harder to find a job when you're the DOBO than when your name is Michael Lewis and your a full-fledged assistant. One of the parts of coaching changes we don't always think about. http://www.huskers.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&SPID=24&SPSID=23
  10. TCU is a P5 conference school. How many players have we won in head-to-head recruiting battles with them this spring? Cross and Ouedraogo for sure. Anyone else?
  11. Cut weight in some areas. Maybe just reposition it. More muscle, less fat, etc. I think Horne is an interesting comparison. I think Cross is a bit more explosive and athletic than Jeriah. Jeriah was fairly skilled, but I don't think he's any more skilled than Kevin Cross. I think if Kevin gets busy in the weight room, he'll be even more explosive.
  12. So, do we now understand why Amir and Karrington were advised to leave?
  13. I like Kevin's film. But his photos from his various visits to different schools shows a guy who needs to spend some quality time with a strength and conditioning coach. He has some baby fat that needs to come off his belly. He needs to tighten up. We have some beefy dudes on this roster now. He needs to be one of them. I am very curious to see what the Nebraska Basketball twitter account has to say about his ht/wt. I'd also love to know his wingspan and vertical. And I'd be really curious to see what happens when he and Yvan square off against each other. Because I bet it would be epic.
  14. Wow, Chet, that's genius. Nice detective work.
  15. Well, the University said in their press release tweet that he's 6-9 and 260. His bio on the roster at Huskers.com says he's 6-9 and 260, so we know it wasn't a typo. And the LJS reported he's 6-9 and 240, and they also says he has a nearly 7 ft wingspan. So, I'm just wondering what his vertical is.
  16. Well, if there's another round of grad transfers as some seem to believe there will be, then I gotta think we have what a grad transfer big would be interested in finding. They want immediate playing time and they want a team that otherwise has pieces in place to be successful. And we can say we check off all the other boxes except for the position they would fill if they elected to fill it. So, yeah, you walk into a situation where we've got the other pieces to be successful; we just need you.
  17. You're right, though, that a Simms-type player never plays for Hoiberg. He was a decent athlete but nowhere near good enough of a shooter.
  18. This still just blows me away. Can't get over what a fortuitous turn of events this is. Would love to know his wingspan and vertical.
  19. A lot depends on whether Stevenson gets some kind of waiver. He thought about transferring when Capel was hired at Pitt. Was talked into staying, and then Capel only played him a handful of minutes in garbage time in the team's first several blowouts. Played a total of, like, 31 minutes in 4 games that season. That shouldn't cost a kid a whole season of eligibility, but technically, he'd need a waiver. Fortunately, the NCAA seems to be more generous with those these days. No inside info, but my guess is he won't have to sit an additional year to transfer from Nevada but sits until after December graduation for UN-L so that he's eligible when he would have been eligible if he'd stayed at Nevada.
  20. And Corey wasn't that built, either. Corey Simms #21 Guard Height: 6'5" Weight: 205 Year: Senior City/State: St. Louis, Mo.
  21. It's hard to replace one of the best coaches in the country with another one of the best coaches in the country. There's a good chance Michigan's program will slip a bit. And now where are they going to find a coach? The timing for Michigan sucks.
  22. We have room. They have two 4-star commits. NAME POS LOCATION HT WT STARS RATING COMMITTED Show unofficial visits Jalen Wilson F Denton, TX 6'8" 210 0 5/30/18 SIGNED Cole Bajema F Lynden, WA 6'7" 175 0 8/4/18 SIGNED
  23. I am just absolutely blown away by how big they say this kid is. And he's not fat. He's just built. Of the two HS bigs, this was the one I wanted. And this just solidifies that view all the more. You put it exactly right. You thought we were recruiting an undersized kid who just plays big. But then he shows up and he's big as hell. And he's still only 2 months past his 17th birthday, so there's a good chance he's still growing.
  24. They have him officially listed on the roster as a freakish 6-9, 260#. I am blown away.
