This one mystifies me. We don’t need a sit-out big. We need an immediately-eligible, experienced big, like a senior transfer who doesn’t take away a spot from a 2020 recruit and who can hold down the fort while our two freshmen get acclimated. But, y’know, what do I know?

Good thing we have that Italy trip.

Judging by the hairlines, Hoiberg has to be at least 6'5". I've been next to Donovan and he's legit 6-5. Hoiberg looks taller.

Donovan is our 4th recruiting assistant. He just can't go out on the road. Officially.

2020 SG D'Andre Davis - Decommit

So here's a tweet by Donovan Williams to Chucky Hepburn tweeting about D'Andre Davis. ? -
2021 PG Chucky Hepburn -> Wisconsin
Norm Peterson replied to uneblinstu's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
So, do you file this tweet under Chucky Hepburn, Donovan Williams or D'Andre Davis? -
This one is a bit of a head scratcher. His best season was freshman year when he shot 40% from the free throw line, scored 1.9/game and rebounded 2.2. Downhill from there. But he's big, so there is that. Strange offer. Impressive leaping ability. One of the oddest, effective 3-point shots I've seen. Basically no jump to his jumper but a lightning-fast flick of the wrist. Extremely compact form and very little extra movement. And it's a fast release. And apparently accurate. Looks like he's an active defender and jumps passing lanes to get steals. Again, impressive leaping ability. But is this a position of need? Are there better players we're in on for 2020? Things for the coaches to think about, I guess.

John Beilein to coach the Cleveland Cavilers

Jay Williams said something stupid and got pushback for it so now he’s pretending that what he said wasn’t really what he said and it’s so obvious we should all realize it. -
You may be right, and if so, I hope that would be the reason. But, he’s a stunning athlete and I see the potential for him to develop a consistent and accurate three-point jumpshot. I could also see him being a lockdown defender able to guard the 1 through the 4. He’s worth giving an opportunity to, one that could pay significant dividends.

Rivals' Futurecast has him 100% going to Duke. So, it was fun while it lasted.

He has 3-point range? Are you absolutely kidding me?

Man, the dude is built.

I'm talking 11-12 at ISU where they reached the round of 32. -
Built a little like DaPreis Owens.

I think we scored pretty well in the immediately-eligible transfer department (presuming Stevenson gets his waiver.) If those guys -- Cheatham, Kavas and Stevenson -- had been on the roster already and we just added a recruiting class that included Mack, Green, Arop, Ouedraogo and Cross, I think we'd feel pretty good with where we'd be heading into the season. -

How about 11-12? -
It's somewhat hard to follow, but if you go back, they're talking about Arop redshirting. Arop has not used his redshirt year.

I'm waiting to see the tweet from Husker Hoops giving us his height and weight. Really curious how they say he compares in size to Ouedraogo. He's nowhere near as explosive as Roby, but someone compared him to Jeriah Horne, and I think he's as skilled as Horne and more explosive as well. As far as sloppy body, yeah, he's that. Would love to see what added explosiveness we could get out of him with some hard work in strength and conditioning. See him drop 15# of fat and add 10# of muscle and play at 235# as a freshman? He could probably handle that between now and August. I think he's way better than the unranked, no-Rivals profile, still-available-in-May impression some people have of him. There's still some work to do, but he has skills. I'd say in terms of size, skills and explosiveness, he's no worse than Michael Jacobson was as a freshman, and MJ was a starter here. In fact, I think he's probably a bit more skilled than MJ, and every bit as big and athletic at the same age. Edited: I thought he was 230#. I think he's being described as 240#, so my math on how much fat lost plus muscle gained to get to a 225# playing weight was off. Corrected to make it 235#, although I think 225# would be better for him, so maybe lose even more fat.

Jacob found some video that I posted on April 25 over on the Cross thread on the recruiting board.

Depending on who can play in Italy, it might happen before that. -
Naaah. That's not an NCAA violation. No worries about any NCAA issues at all. It would, however, be a felony. And since it would involve crossing state lines, you'd get the FBI involved. But you shouldn't have any trouble with the NCAA.
