uneblinstu's post game chatter: ed 6, vol 31 - Wisconsin

NO ONE SAT DOWN! I THINK THEY'RE STILL STANDING!

      BijVnN6CcAAWlPI.jpg

    - This is the night we've been dreaming of for 16 years. That atmosphere was unlike anything I've been apart of. And it lasted the whole night. They called for "No Sit Sunday and the fans came through.

    - The Huskers big three came to play. I don't know that there would have been many teams that would have come in here today and won. This was a special place tonight.

    - Man, Shields is the best player on the team right now.

    - I love that these guys aren't afraid.

    - I love that Miles says the curse is bullS#!&.

    - I don't know where things are going to end for this team, but this ride has been nothing short of unbelievable.

    - You know it's never going to get better than tonight, right? The expectations have been raised for this program. But tonight, this ride, is special. It will live in the annals of Husker history. We will be talking about this night for the rest of our lives.

I love this team. I love this journey. I'm really excited to see what they do in Indianapolis. Enjoy this, fellas. Next year is here.

According to ESPN- attendance of 15,998... come on Nebraskans! missed it by two?!

Well I know where at least two seats were open next to me in section 114. Thanks to them, at least my brother got to move down from the 300s.

Not basketball related, but post game related-

    Hangover tomorrow-

Garlic pills or 2 sections of garlic clove fresh

1/2 liter pedialyte or two 12 oz gatorade.

    Enjoy.

Yeah, I might have had a celebratory beer or two too many. Might be a rough one tomorrow.

Trust the garlic brother.  Nature's cure all.

The return of Shield's explosiveness has been a major difference maker. Some of those moves he made around the basket were amazing and it didn't seem like they were possible mid-season.

Do you ever thing Pitch is going to miss a shot anymore?

Does anyone else get excited about all these guys coming back next year?

I was just thinking about a topic along these lines. Just imagine the senior night for these guys in two years.

    • Shields
    • Petteway
    • Pitchford
    • Parker

Whoa. We better get to recruiting

    WOW.....

no other words to describe the game tonight, my wife and I got our drink on before the game and everyone else in the bar had the mentality of let's get sauced now and be obnoxious when we get into "the vault"  Watching the MSU OSU game the consensus of the bar was "alright we gotta go earn the 4 seed"

Walking up to the arena people were jacked, we walked into 115 right when Peltz was speaking, talk about a way to get even more fired up.

The whole game we stood, yelled, and begged this team to win.... they came through, and it was awesome.

Anyone on this board who knows me or knows me and my familys story of what we went through last march trust me your words were definitely helpful to me back then and i appreciate the husker basketball community.... to come from that moment of watching the ohio st game in the tourney last year and reversing the script to playing the winner of ohio st and purdue on friday.... I am an emotional wreck, but i love husker basketball, i love our fans... and lets go kick some ass in indy

Can Miles be to men's basketball what Devaney was to football ?

Wouldn't Cipriano or Nee be the Devaney.... then, Miles can be the Osborne w/ the 25-yr winning tenure!  <_<

I think it's bigger than this.  IMO, Miles could be the athletic department's newest icon.  In the 60's, 70's and even 80's, Devaney was the face of athletics at Nebraska, not just football.  After that, it's been Osborne.  When you think of NU athletics today, what's the first name you think of?  Who in the department best represents NU and the state of Nebraska?  There is a void now that Osborne is gone.

Miles has a chance to be that person.  What do the rest of you think?

Cip and Danny were the Jumbo Stiehm and Dana Bible of Nebrasketball. Miles resurrects the program, as Devaney did after 20 years of heartache.

I also must add...I was pretty impressed with Wiscy.  I knew they were going to be good, so I wasn't all that surprised but they are a tough matchup.  The only thing they are lacking is athleticism which could be their downfall at the Big Dance.  Dekker is very athletic for his size...out side of that they do not have much.  But, they make you defend and have the ability to put an extreme amount of pressure on a defense.  Everyone in their lineup is a threat to either take it to the hoop or knock down the 3 ball.  Rooting for them to make a run in the tourny.

Being at the game, I thought they were way better athletically than what I expected. While guys like Gasser and Brust aren't speed burners, they are very strong and don't get pushed around.

They are a very skilled team. They do put pressure on you to guard everybody on the floor. They can break down people off of the dribble more effectively than I thought. Ryan is a helluva coach. He ran iso plays all night exploiting us where he thought they had an advantage. Their weakness is that defensively they do not defend well at the rim - which is where we are strong with Shavon and Terran. And by the way, is there anybody on our team you would rather have take a big jump shot than Walter? He has thrown some daggers in the last month. He is shooting with great confidence.

Wisconsin is good team but they won't be able to bully their way on both sides of the court without getting into foul trouble, which is when they are at their best.  Their guards just shoving Energizer Benny & allowing all that contact on our drives was such a disgrace.  Fouls should have been called multiple times.  Just glad we were able to overcome the inept officiating.

And if you read most of the Wiscy posts on BTN they got robbed by all the calls we got.  Now that is what is truely funny.

    Sorry ESPN

Going through the game thread on buckyville this afternoon, I ran across this gem:

christ, we are making shields look like a fuicking all american

And it reminded me of the Illini fans talking about Shields "having the game of his life" against them earlier.  I wonder how many "games of his life" he's going to need to get before people start respecting his game?

    Another good post:

Nebraska has turned into a very good team, much of it on the strength of their redshirt sophomore transfers.  Like us, they don't lose much of their team next year (one starting guard).  With Michigan State likely losing Payne, Appling, and Harris for next year, that probably leaves Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nebraska as next year's Big Ten favorites, or, if Michigan loses several players to the NBA, just us and Nebraska, the two teams that went 8-1 during the second half of this year's Big Ten season.  Next year we could be playing Nebraska for more than just NCAA tournament seeding, we could be playing them for the Big Ten championship.  There's even a chance we could see them again next Sunday.

Shields named Big Ten player of the week for the 2nd time. Shavon is getting acclaim, slowly but surely.

But somehow didn't make BTN's third team.  I don't see how that's the case!

If he'd played like that all year, he'd be in. The slow start hurts him here. He'll be on lists to start next season.

We kept commenting on how good Wisconsin is.  They were certainly more athletic than I expected, and they kept fighting and clawing.  I respect them...but I am pretty sure their fan base does not respect us.
