    Doane Info

    Head Coach: Ian McKeithen
    Location: Crete, NE
Conference: Great Plains Athletic Conference (NAIA)
    Nickname: Tigers

    Mascot: Thomas the Tiger
Last time out: Lost to University of Virginia Islands

    Of note

    • Doane head coach Ian McKeithen was hired by Fred Hoiberg as an intern when Hoiberg was working in the Timberwolves front office.
    • This is the third meeting between Nebraska and Doane. The Huskers won an exhibition vs the Tigers in 2011 76-54 and a game back in 1899 52-7 in old Grant Hall

    Hoiberg Presser

    The Skinny:

Back when Doc Sadler was hired as head coach in 2006 he made following statement which eventually became a running joke with Nebraska fans:

    Quote

“You ever watch tennis? We’re going to play baseline to baseline.I don’t know how much these (courtside) seats sell for, but you better get one. … We’re going to go as fast as we can.”

As the Doc Sadler era began before the age of freely available analytics it would take a while for the good people of Nebraska to realize the joke was on them as the defensive-minded Sadler's view of baseline to baseline was running off as much clock as possible to limit possessions for his often undermanned teams. Sadler's return, this time in a role to shore up the defense for Fred Hoiberg, should fulfill the promise of "baseline to baseline" and perhaps even one day the promise of that first ever NCAA tournament win.

With the lack of size, Hoiberg seems keen to run his 5-out offense that he first developed at Iowa St.  When the Huskers are setting up their offense after a Doane made basket, take time to note when they initiate the offense with all 5 players behind the three point line. It will be especially interesting to note when or if this occurs when Yvan Ouedraogo is in the game.

You're guess on the score is as good as mine.

    Let's say

    Prediction: Nebraska 86 - Doane 59

Anyone remember that game back in 99?  Think they had the Beau Brummelstones play at halftime.

Oh yeah and can't forget tonight is the return of the guys on the Spirit Squad.  They did appear at the football games but not as much impact there as they could have with the fans at the basketball games.  Get more than that Red/White cheer going...think that and Husker Power are the only two cheers they taught the ladies.

Can I count this one for HHCC?

Rare midseason form, unlike the Huskers last Weds. While the final score was the outcome imagined, the way it went was an enigma wrapped in hyperbole (oh wait, I'm talkin' 'bout NU football, oops.)
