So it was OK for Romeo to play in Australia and not in an exhibition?  Not sure I understand.

Simply, It's the start of the regular (pre)season. She was probably told she won't play the first game of the season. (could be more games she can't play...it's up to Yori)

Australia was an international exhibition, a trip for fun, and exposure to some of the rest of the world. Played non US teams

True freshman from Nebraska, in her first game coming off a near year long injury, and little practice and no college game experience. 29 points 12 rebs ,,....and playing a little more than half the  game. (17 min out of 40 min)

Enjoy the next 4 years guys !

Connie was just wanting to see what the new players could do, and let them go for it. Not a great big plan in place, just get them on the floor and do your thing....only plan was feed the ball inside.

Watch how we do on defense early.  Of course, that is not what most people actually watch.  But Connie's defense is complex, and that is an area where the loss of 4 players with about a 100 starts each will show.  And it showed today.  I like the talent but we have a long way to go

Clark can play, as Kansas Husker and Row 6 have pointed out.  She knows the game. She will help us a lot this year, and help; bridge to the future.

Shephard had big numbers, even with a balky knee and being out of shape. It won't always happen like that when the competition picks up.  Blackburn has a great frame, runs the floor better than I expected, and you can see the promise.   With experience she will be a good one.

Havers disappointed a bit.  Still inconsistent.   Still looking more like a complementary player and more of 15-20 minute player than a 27-32.

It's so nice to hear Coach Yori talk about having depth with excitement in her voice. So ready for the season and am thrilled I can watch next Sunday.

Check over at Huskers.com for Connie's video presser, and a game photo gallery

Thanks, just watched it. Coach said some good things about UNK and Hofstetter at the end. That was nice.

How good was it to see Rachel T pick up right where she left off. That shot where she drives into the lane and throws up that little floater never gets old. I thought she made some really nice passes in the lane especially in the third quarter during a few of those fastbreaks.

The potential of both Shepard and Blackburn is off the charts once they get some more experience. Both have great hands and can catch the ball in traffic. Jess for condition she's in now and all the practice she's had to miss, to get 29 points and grab 12 boards has really got me pumped and excited to see just how dominate she will become once she gets into playing shape.

"It was great to get out there and just play again," Shepard said. "When I found out after practice on Monday that I was finally cleared to play, I had tears of joy. It has been a long, hard road, so it felt really good to get out on the court again. I have waited my whole life to wear a Nebraska uniform, so it was a dream come true today."

Good to see Darrian Washington finally get on the court. Looks like she has the knack to getting to loose balls. Kalenta has improved and played some productive minutes.

This team may take a few games to gel but like Coach says "we should get better as the season goes along" providing we stay healthy. Could be a different looking team also once we get Natalie and Jasmine back. Maddie Simon played some major minutes and for the most part did a really nice job.

I thought Kearney was better than I thought they'd be.

I was hoping Blackburn might be able to play some 3 position and she did today with Yori mentioning it post game.  Gives us a big advantage against certain teams with Simon also there at 6'2''.  Kalenta improving this year really helps provide the depth for this to happen.  Cincore will give us some options there as well.  I would say that we are having tremendous competition for playing time at all positions.  The biggest plus of all is a healthy Theriot that makes it all work.  Her assists should be off the chart this year.

I really liked what I saw today. Considering that Shepard hasn't been able to fully practice and is not in game shape, she did very well. I was impressed with Clark and felt while watching her that she looks like she has been playing with these girls for 4 years, she fits in that well. Theriot - what can I say other than SMOOOOOOOOTH. I think this will be an extra special year for her being senior year and coming off injury. Blackburn is tremendous and she and Jess should throw a scare into opposing teams. To think we will have them 4 years makes me giddy. Maddie did a good job today and I'm hoping her shots will fall better as we progress into the season. I also thought Kalenta played well and so did Washington. I wasn't sure what to expect from Washington but I liked what I saw in her few minutes in the game. I can say I'm definitely a fan of Emily Wood. She is such a pest on defense! And absolutely no fear from her on the floor. I know on a few of those steals she got a finger on the ball to disrupt a pass, and she also had a couple of nifty assists. I saw that Jess made sure she acknowledged her on one of her assists.

The girls appear to genuinely like each other and encourage each other. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the girls that were injured or not playing this season.

I do think our defense needs to improve. While I thought UNK was better than I anticipated, I don't think they should have scored as many points as they did.

Wish I could have been there... in Afghanistan...  Our girl (43) plays hard every second she's on the court.  Never doubt that...  She's an Army kid...

With the scoring prowess of Jess, Rachel Theriot, Nat Romeo and the other great girls... They will be tough.

Not only does she know what needs to be done, she then goes out and GETS IT DONE.

On 43s first touch of the game she had a clear out I'm looking forward watching future clear outs

That second picture should be the picture when you talk about "having the eye of the tiger"

#43 going to see lots of floor time this year...may need some extra shoes to wear out ?

dirrk...will you be able to get some future games broadcast on Husker, com, or B1G plus?

Young #43 makes us all proud she a Husker.....and it seems this team fits her skills real well.

.....and just maybe she has a very proud dad across the water.  Does the Army allow for busted off proud shirt buttons?
