jimmykc Posted September 8, 2015 Report Posted September 8, 2015 I'm about 2/3 done and will have an Amazon review up before the weekend. As a short preview, I'll say that it will be get five stars and there are thousands of other interesting facts about our coach in there but I will not spoil the book by listing them. Did you know 3.27 has some significance to the program, for instance? Quote

jimmykc Posted September 8, 2015 Report Posted September 8, 2015 Maybe on a 5 point scale. Actually it refers to a personal quirk of Miles. And by the way, I never knew Hubert Horatio Humphrey also came from Doland until I read the book. Now that's all the spoiling I plan to do since I'm sure Winter wants to make some money on this tome. Well, ok one more. I was surprised and happy that Dirk Chatelain, who sometimes has been known to peruse HHC, and who I had always considered only an OWH and Bluejay shill once had the old BDSC basketball court duplicated on his basement floor. My apologies, Dirk, perhaps there is still some hope for you. Quote

Did you know 3.27 has some significance to the program, for instance? Isn't that the time on the clock when Miles comes out on the floor? His jersey numbers when he played were like 32 and 7 or something like that? Or maybe those were his stats, senior year of HS: 3 pts, 2 bds and 7 minutes. For the season. jimmykc Posted September 10, 2015 Report Posted September 10, 2015 Pretty good trivia knowledge, Norm, if you haven't read the book. And I'm sure everyone has been breathlessly awaiting my Amazon review of the book (I was the first!). It has now been posted. And as a further sign of the apocalypse, " One on One" with Robbie Benson was featured on Turner Classic Movies today. AuroranHusker 1 Quote

Red Don Posted September 10, 2015 Report Posted September 10, 2015 Let me be the first one to guess, Is your new Avitar Robbie Benson?  (ok, ok, I know, it's a gimme Or is the contest over? ) jimmykc 1 Quote
Huskerpapa Posted September 10, 2015 Report Posted September 10, 2015 Nope, Jimmy's avitar is Henry Steele! Â This is Robby Benson: Â Quote

jimmykc Posted September 10, 2015 Report Posted September 10, 2015 Thanks for checking the review out, Norm. If you liked it, give me a "help" point so I can perhaps break into the top 200,000. Now that's a proper Nebrasketball bar setter for you. And I actually discuss vicissitudes a lot with my grandkids. Certainly Robby Benson has had many of them. And to plumb the esoteric even deeper, I wonder how many coaches have used G.D. Spradlin's character to model their own approach to coaching? Quote

jimmykc Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 I am a bit disappointed in all of you lads (and lasses), Only one of two "helpful" votes on my review so far. Perhaps I should not have chosen to use "vicissitudes"? At any rate, Winter is a good writer and appears to have been given a shaft on his tenure at UNL so some likes of the positive review might improve book revenues. And I would once again enjoy entering the top 200,000 reviewers which is a suitably modest Nebraska goal. Quote
Red Don Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 Impressive list of books, Jimmy! A lot of interesting reads; you're a man of many interests. (However do you find the time to post? )  C'mon guys (and gals); I know everyone is interested in the book 'Nebrasketball.' Whether you buy it or not, if you like his review (or any of them), lets help give Jimmy a boost with his own "vicissitudes" (but you must be registered with Amazon and signed in to vote). jimmykc 1 Quote
jimmykc Posted September 13, 2015 Report Posted September 13, 2015 Thanks, Red Don. But if Norm can find a time to squeeze in a few posts, I feel obliged to try as well. Quote

49r Posted September 14, 2015 Report Posted September 14, 2015 For what it's worth, if there aren't enough reviews up on Amazon for this book for one's satisfaction, one could head on over to the Bluejay Underground.
