We'll be lucky to be in the NIT. if we don't make that I sure as hell don't want to play in the CBI or CIT.

what?

which part do you disagree with?  Play like this and at the end of the year we won't be an NIT caliber team considering we'll be nowhere near the bubble.

A .500 mark in the league would be a good accomplishment for this team.  As for the NCAA's, losses to Creighton and Incarnate Word do not look good.  The road win at FSU does not look all that good.

These threads are hilarious. We can literally win every game we play the rest of the year. We can lose most of them too. Such is life in the Big Ten. We have 10 games left and six are on the road. I'd have to think we'd be overachieving if we were better than 5-5 in those games. Just my take. Can we overachieve? Sure. Will we? I don't know. Some guys got to get right with themselves and player better, I know that.

I'm confused ( nothing new here) but what is the difference between the CIT and the CBI?

Apparently Creighton has played in both.

The CBI is a couple years older, and has included more high major participants than the CIT.  The CBI doesn't require a .500 or better record, but the CIT does.  If Nebraska can't make the NCAA or NIT, the next most likely postseason destination would be CBI, but IMO we'd still need to get to 15 wins overall to get there.

It used to be thought that the CIT and CBI were "beneath" any Big Ten school and any invitation would be declined, until Purdue accepted a bid to the CBI a couple years ago.  Texas and North Dakota State were also part of that tourney field.  Last year Oregon State, Penn State, Tulsa and Wyoming were part of the field.  Past participants have included Oregon, VCU, Colorado State, among other reasonably notable programs.

To say we'd automatically turn down a CBI bid is laughable in my mind, but I also think the NCAA should still be the goal first and foremost for this team.  Probably gonna have to be satisfied with the NIT if we can win enough games though.

Thanks, 49er. I wouldn't have known that Siena or Murray State were champions of anything last year without the links. I don't see much value in playing in either of these if we don't make the NCAA or NIT fields.

I couldn't give any sort of educated guess on how this team will finish the season because I have no idea which team will show up on any given night. That might be the most frustrating thing about this team.

A whole lot can happen.  I think we have just as good of a chance to beat Wisconsin and Maryland at home as we did to beat Michigan on the road.  That's just life in the BIG.  Home court is a crazy advantage in this league.

The season is by no means lost or won at this point.

These threads are hilarious.

I'll take that over tragic.

All of us are going to over-react one way or another to a win or loss...some more or less than others.

As long as one isn't posting regrettable reactions it mostly is just part of the ebbs and flow of following a team.
