Matthew Atewe -> Auburn -> Washington

Okay, I know it's all in fun in trying to reach 35 pages but in my opinion, posting nonsense just to post nonsense just clutters up this thread.

I see what you're saying.  Good point.  I'll try to knock it off.

Norm...Do you need a great post-step program?

Yeah, "this changes everything" is a little too emphatic if all you're talking about is "this means I'll now qualify at the schools I've already been looking at." Sorry, but not holding my breath on this one. Not that I have been ... <_<

Agreed. And agreed with previous poster saying you don't "weed out" higher level schools for lower level schools. I thought k st was out because they signed other bugs. Let me sift through this 30 page thread....

This is why I truly think Atewe has not made a decision yet. If he knew where he was going, what would be the point in saying something like this?

Personal amusement

Outside shot: the Huskers have cooled on Matthew and are no longer pursuing him hard.

[now, Swan ducks behind his desk to avoid all the arrows coming his way on this board--always enjoy referring to myself in third person]

From what I've heard, he's at the top of NU's board.  No cooling whatsoever.  The staff wants him and he's their #1 big.

Ok, I'll bite. You've heard directly from the coaches or one of their staff on this?

No, but those who have.

I know it's difficult for you to accept that Atewe may just want to take all five visits and that Charlotte may be neck and neck with Nebraska, but what basis do you have that NU has cooled?  Honest question: what is your basis?  Atewe himself has said that NU coaches talk to him almost on a daily basis.  Other than Leslee Smith, a reach, there's absolutely no reports of NU going after another big right now.  Do you think that'd slip through the cracks?  No official visist lined up at NU either.

You can discount my previous post or what Kamdy has said but all the evidence lines up to NU still going after Atewe HARD.

So I figured I would let everyone know what he told my friend.  When my buddy said he should go to Nebraska he told my friend, "Im gonna look good in red".  Now take it for whatever that means, whether hes made up his mind or he was just appeasing my buddy or he already looks good in red wearing Team Canada gear, but thats what he said and it was in a small conversation not just in passing.

This is where I get my confidence in him.

I still think we get him.

Me too. I'm gonna believe he's 'N' until he's not. Our program has way more going for it than any of his other three finalists. To me, it's a no brainer. I am a little biased but I think he's ours. And if he really likes one of those other schools, then by all means, go there.

Here's a quote from the Lee Barfknecht article posted on the main board: "Miles has identified in recruiting which players fit his style. Miles’ simple mantra is 'he better be able to pass it, catch it and shoot it.'"

Hmmm . . . does a dunk count as "shoot it"?

Matthew has superb athleticism and a strong ability to block shots, play defense and rebound--to do anything without the ball in his hands.  Those traits are, obviously, the reason Nebrasketball has been recruiting him, with (presumably) the hope that he would develop skills with the ball.

However, if you look at all the available videos and describe his weaknesses, such description would be precisely the reverse of the Miles recruiting mantra: he doesn't "pass it, catch it [or] shoot it" very well.

my question to you would be how many high school centers in the country are good at all 3 things coming into college?  I think those things matter for 1-3 and in most cases your 4, but to expect that from a hs 5 is asking a heck of a lot as they are usually the least developed and mostly recruited on potential (unless youre Duke, UNC, etc getting 5*'s).
