TheKamdyMan Posted March 12, 2013 Author Report Posted March 12, 2013 This has probably been mentioned before, but when is Atewe expected to make his decision? supposedly after this weekends visit with Nevada. As to a specific date none was given but he told Robin he'd have a decision made once he completed his final visit.
Norm Peterson Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 He liked the weather in Charlotte. Hopefully, he doesn't check the weather map for Lincoln very often.
atskooc Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 So, does he already have the papers ready to sign? Or would he tell the coaching staff first and have them send the papers? Anybody know how this works?
leonidas Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 So, does he already have the papers ready to sign? Or would he tell the coaching staff first and have them send the papers? Anybody know how this works? Signing day isn't until April 17, so any decision is just a non-binding oral commitment until then.

Is there such an animal?

Swan88 Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Check out this Matthew Atewe quote from an Auburn Rivals article: "Them and Charlotte have been in contact with me the most. Those two programs are recruiting me the hardest out of the four. That plays a role." FYI--the "them" is not Nebraska.
ajb5856 Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Check out this Matthew Atewe quote from an Auburn Rivals article: "Them and Charlotte have been in contact with me the most. Those two programs are recruiting me the hardest out of the four. That plays a role." FYI--the "them" is not Nebraska. As has been discussed, they tell these recruiting analysts what they want to hear. Atewe has mentioned previously that Nebraska has been in constant contact with him as well. Why he doesn't mention this here or throw Nebraska's name in that same 'recruiting him the hardest' category, I don't know. I think these recruits just kinda throw answers out there off the top of their minds. They also feed into whatever program's recruiting analyst wants to hear. If he's talking to the Auburn guy he's not going to say 'Auburn sucks and I have very little relationship with those coaches. They never call me, I don't know what their problem is.'
Norm Peterson Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 I'm not holding my breath anymore. Not that I was anyway. He'll go where he goes and we'll adjust accordingly. I think it was Kamdy who predicted that there will be guys whose names surface in March and April whom we've never even heard of. I think he's probably right about that. I wonder if the coaches are as weary about all of this as (some of) we are. I just wish he'd make a decision so that we can move onto the next 30 page thread.
49r Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 I wonder if the coaches are as weary about all of this as (some of) we are. I hope not. It's their job. For (most of) us it's just a diversion.
TheKamdyMan Posted March 13, 2013 Author Report Posted March 13, 2013 Yeah Robin responded to the article on HOL stating Atewe has told him that Nebraska's Harriman and Miles talk or text him daily. Very much a people pleaser in every article.
Norm Peterson Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 I understand, 49r. But eventually, as a coach, I would think you'd have to begin wondering if a kid who keeps vacillating and changes the date for his commit in order to take more visits isn't just leading you along. They've invested time and energy in Atewe that could have been invested in recruiting other players. I hope he isn't just yanking our chains to stroke his own ego or something. I mean, I don't know. Perhaps he's not but I don't know that. He certainly could be. And if Nebraska coaches are not contacting him as much, perhaps they've decided to cut their losses and (while still keeping an open door) focus their efforts elsewhere.
Norm Peterson Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Any chance we can get this thread to 35 pages before this kid commits? What's the over/under?
TheKamdyMan Posted March 13, 2013 Author Report Posted March 13, 2013 no chance on 35. As for dragging things out he only can take one more visit and signing day then is a month away from this weekend. So the wait is almost over whichever way things turn out.
Norm Peterson Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 So, we probably need to NOT make a post-season tourney so that Miles and Harrison can schedule an in-home visit with Matthew after his last official but before he commits anywhere.
uneblinstu Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 He just tweeted that he's qualified and... https://twitter.com/MatthewAtewe41/status/311879542228807680
bball23 Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Hopefully this is GOOD news as maybe NU being in the Big 10 is harder to get into? I saw Rosenthal retweeted this....maybe he knows something?
cwshuskers Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Maybe we can accept his commitment now?
Hooper Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Maybe we can accept his commitment now? I wish that were the scenario, but I'm pretty sure we're fighting for his commitment just like the other three teams are.
Silverbacked1 Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Now he can get into his dream school- You know Harvard is in this years tournament.
Concrete Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 Or it means more schools are going to go after him now... Fortunately he's already used 4 of his 5 official visits with the fifth to Nevada scheduled for this weekend (i think)

I saw Rosenthal retweeted this....maybe he knows something? So he's qualified now...maybe this was the reason for the commitment date extension and extra visits to Nevada and Charlotte. I'm guessing he's now 'N' and we're just waiting for the Rosenthal tweet to confirm our (my) suspicions.
