Quite a few games have been posted on huskers.com on the up coming non conference schedule. Usually they schedule 12-13 non conference games. Right now we have 5 non conference home games with Duke being added just yesterday. I griped a little bit about this yesterday but I'd like to see better match ups against more established teams to fill out the rest of the slate especially in the Vault. The Huskers most likely will play two exhibition games plus the Creighton game needs to be finalized but that game will be in Omaha. Here what they list so far.

Sun. Nov. 2 Wayne St. (exhibition)

Sun. Nov. 9 Concordia-St Paul (exhibition)

Sat Nov. 15 Pepperine

Sun. Nov. 16 Alcorn St

Wed. Nov 19 @ Washington St

Sun. Nov 23 Utah

Fri. Nov 28 @ UCLA

Sun. Nov 30 Northern Colorado

Wed. Dec. 3 Duke

Sun. Dec. 7 @ Alabama

Thur. Dec. 11 @ Creighton

Sat. Dec 13 Bakersfield

Sat. Dec 20 High Point

I believe that if we know anything about Connie Yori it is that she wants to challenge her team as much as possible. As we get closer to the season we will see better matchups at home however as the lady Huskers continue to get better they may find it harder to schedule big name teams because of the fear of them getting beat. Not all coaches like to schedule tough non conference opponents in fear of not racking up the wins.

Yes, the women need more pre-season games, particularly this year with so many new players...about half the team. Games with other teams is just not the same as pracice, not even close.

Coaches use the preseason as a vital teaching tool, to get playing time for everyone, and honing into the skill set of certain players.

There's also the winning factor that instills a positive attitude in newer players, that are somewhat unsure about their new place in the basketball world at NU. (thus you don't schedule UConn early.)

But as said, at some point, fairly early in the season, we need to be challenged by better teams.  So, the early season is kind of a mixed bag.....real game experience to sort out the new team, and getting up to speed as a team. Running different offenses, and defenses, individual assignments, etc etc etc

As everyone knows having a preseason with a mixed schedule of weaker teams and a couple of better teams, is common in all sports, not just womens basketball.

In NU's case this fall will be especially interesting to see if we have another Hooper or 00 in the making.

Maybe when Jessica Shephard arrived we can take on UConn.  It sounded like Geno would be interested in playing.  He has to play a good non-conference because there isn't much in his league to challenge his squad.

This just in:

We elected to move our game with Utah to the Devaney Center because of a scheduling conflict with “Disney on Ice” at Pinnacle Bank Arena. We plan to make it a special day at the Devaney Center by honoring our 1988 Big Eight Championship Huskers, who went 13-0 at home on their way to Nebraska’s first NCAA Tournament appearance.

What are they going to do when they have to turn away fans at the door?

My post is going to be a bit OT, but I got an email today from the university stating that due to a design flaw in the lower rows that I will be move from row  8 section 118. here is the email I got. Can someone explain this to me. Am I being moved up a row, Is the whole section moving ?

As the 2014-15 Women’s Basketball season approaches, we would like to make you aware of some changes in your seating assignments going forward. Unfortunately, due to a sightline design flaw in Pinnacle Bank Arena, Row B of Sections 117 and 118 seating is unusable for basketball games. After careful consideration, the Athletic Department has decided to remove this row to correct the problem. Those sections will now consist of rows A and 1 through 24.

Due to the removal of row B and because the existing rows will not be renumbered, there will be changes to your seat location. To compensate for removing row B, ticket seat locations after row A will all be moved back one row, i.e. row B seat locations will become row 1 seat locations, row 1 seat locations will be row 2 seat locations, etc. Those ticket holders in row A who were temporarily moved last year will be placed back into their original seat assignment in row A. While we will be able to accommodate everyone within their current section, some season ticket holders in the last few rows of each section may be displaced from their original seat preference (aisle). We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we continue to work through complications from this design error.

You will receive your new seat assignments when season ticket invoice renewals are mailed July 10. If you wish to make a change in your seat location(s), please make that request when you renew your tickets online or on your invoice when you renew by mail.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Athletic Ticket Office or Huskers Athletic Fund at 800-8-BIGRED. Thank you for your continued support of Nebraska Women’s Basketball!

I thought the University had first choice being the prime tenant.

Utah has been added to the slate. The third opponent from the Pac 12 conference on next seasons schedule will be coming to Lincoln on Sunday, Nov. 23.

The funny thing about this game, the schedule has it listed to be played in the Bob Devaney Center. and not the Vault.

Here is another email that I got today, As I suppose that all season ticket holders got.

As a valued season ticket holder of Nebraska women’s basketball, you will receive an opportunity to renew your season tickets ahead of the general public sale for our second season at Pinnacle Bank Arena when invoices are mailed on July 10. We also want to say thank you by offering you the first chance to get your tickets for a special non-conference game against Utah (Sunday, Nov. 23) to be played at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, which will not be included in our season ticket package.

Both of the opportunities to secure your tickets will be mailed to you in the season ticket renewal package in mid-July. Once you receive your season ticket renewal by mail, you will have approximately two weeks to renew your season tickets by logging into your account at Huskers.com. You will also be able to purchase your single-game ticket for Utah at the Devaney Center, and purchase parking for the Utah game in advance on Huskers.com.

New season tickets for women’s basketball at Pinnacle Bank Arena and single-game tickets for the Utah game at the Devaney Center will go on sale to the general public on Monday, July 28.

In our second season at Pinnacle Bank Arena, the women’s basketball program will offer an exciting 17-game home schedule, including marquee matchups with 2014 NCAA Tournament teams Duke, Maryland, Penn State, Purdue and Iowa. All five of those teams finished in the top 25 nationally last season. The home schedule will include other Big Ten battles against Minnesota, Ohio State, Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Okay looked up the Bob holds 7,907. And we averaged 6600 or so. So they could get them in, BUT I am sure that will be a hot ticket. So will have to see how it works out. I think it will be a fun one to go to.

With season ticket holders getting first shot at the tickets.

I'd say if they sell out The Bob that's pretty good stuff.

That one moves to the top of my list. I want to see the new Bob in person. Wonder if Coach Beck will be in the house. Sounds like good times.

You hit the nail on the head Silverbacked1on the hot ticket. Right now it's our second home game with the first being Pepperdine. So I think it's a better match up for fans to see where we stand with all the new comers. Plus it's on a Sunday afternoon and a lot of fans will most likely be able to go to this one. We put in over 9 grand for the first round of the NCAA and that's without the Huskers playing.  Better get a ticket when they become available or they'll be gone.

Unfortunate that there was a conflict with PBA. Attended a game at the girls state basketball tournament last year at the Bob. I didn't care for the setup, which is to be expected with it being renovated for volleyball.  There was no baseline seating and the scoreboards are not designed for basketball. OTOH i suppose it could present a unique setting for basketball with seating a bit closer and a giant wall on one side.

Went by the ticket office this afternoon to renew my season tickets and purchase my Utah ticket and parking pass for the Ute game. I had to wait in line for others there for the same reason. Once I was at the window she gave me the choice of where I wanted to sit. So after little pondering and less deliberation I decided to park my arse in Row6Seat10. ;)

Can't Wait !!

You should have pretty good seats HB. For others wanting Utah tickets, better get your ticket soon for the Utah game from what I gathered most A section chair back seats and about half way up into the better B section seats on the side are already bought.

I have mine in B16 row 2 seats 5-6. Guess I could have went A section also, but I thought that the A section were bleacher seats. Plus my parking pass is in lot 52 where ever that is.
