lanigan123 Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Anyone listen to sharp and benning Friday morning? Gary brought up Gessell may transfer as Iowa was after TD. Any legs to this? He brought up Nebraska and CU. Also, I think the transfer they are after will have an immediate impact. Quote
REDZONEDAN Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 If he transfers to another school in the same conference he would lose a year of eligibility, so I doubt Nebraska would be an option. Bangarang 1 Quote
lanigan123 Posted March 16, 2014 Author Report Posted March 16, 2014 I believe he still has his redshirt year. Quote
REDZONEDAN Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 I believe he still has his redshirt year. Correct. Because he has that redshirt year, will he still have two years to play? The rules for transferring within a conference can be a little confusing. Quote
royalfan Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Would be curious to know the answer as well. Quote
REDZONEDAN Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 I would not be pissed if Gessell transferred here and had 2 years to play. Quote
kldm64 Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 I'd take Gessell in a heartbeat. That would not suck. Quote
TomEadesSucks Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 I found this regarding the Big Ten's transfer rules http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/58173/big-ten-makes-changes-to-transfer-rule From my understanding, Mike would lose a year of eligibility even though he has a redshirt, so he would be a senior, unless Iowa waives the rule. Cookie Belcher Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Can't see Fran being the type of guy to waive the rule and release him. greymonkey 1 Quote
HB Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Yeah, this is not happening. Nor should it. If years into it Fran wants to go in a different direction, there is a reason. Watching the games, it's fairly obvious. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 I heard a rumor that he had Notre Dame stuff hanging in the family basement... royalfan, Silverbacked1, BLB115 and 3 others 6 Quote
colhusker Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 I hear he had really hairy legs as a Senior in high school, almost ape like hairy. 49r 1 Quote
husker11 Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 Makes me wonder a bit about a caller on Sports Nightly a few weeks back. The caller asked if Nebraska players liked Miles and that his son played for another team in the conference and didn't really like his coach. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 Makes me wonder a bit about a caller on Sports Nightly a few weeks back. The caller asked if Nebraska players liked Miles and that his son played for another team in the conference and didn't really like his coach. Wow. I'd have a hard time believing that would have been Gesell's dad. I mean maybe someone else, but I'd have a hard time believing someone from their family would be that bold. How is anyone on Sports Nightly going to be able to shed any light on whether Miles' players like him and, if so, what that would mean for the caller's kid or whoever. But, speaking of Gesell, if he wants to leave Iowa, I wonder if Transfer U would be a potential destination. His 2nd place coach is now an assistant there and they like transfers anyway. If Iowa recruited Trey Dickerson as competition for and a potential replacement of Mike Gesell, I hope Fran is open and up-front enough to tell him in time for Gesell to search out other options. And a logical "other option" might be ISU. Quote
Cookie Belcher Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Could that caller have been the dad of the kid who plays for Indiana? Quote
AuroranHusker Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 Could that caller have been the dad of the kid who plays for Indiana? I believe that Hoosier fella's father had called in to Sports Nightly in the past... Quote
