You may be able to purchase a runza for those two cents a few more times this winter. And since this topic seems to be such a hot one for hoops fans in Nebraska, maybe one of those radio or tweet questions for Miles should be what type of runza is his favorite.

Can you put Dorothy Lynch™ on a Runza™?

And then what are you going to do?  Dunk it in some Kool-AidTM?

Gotta have a side of Jell-O™ to go with it, too, Norm.

I love RunzasTM.

I'm glad they have them at PBA.

Now, I can buy a few from a reputable establishment on the way to the arena and smuggle them past the wand wavers and purse checkers and eat them at my leisure without any ushers questioning it.  (Hey, that guy has a RunzaTM.  Oh, yeah, we're selling them now.)

I love RunzasTM.  And RunzaTM isn't paying me to say it (though I think they should.)

I would love to see your purse collection.  Do you have a red Prada or Hilde Palladino bag?

Oh, I have no fear of the purse checkers since I don't carry a bag.  But, given my natural girth and the fact that I must, therefore, wear a rather large coat (one with ample inside pockets) I am able to conceal objects up to the size of a small grand piano in my parka.

I was tempted to try to smuggle a nice selection of artisan cheeses, various charcuterie, and a nice bottle of cabernet, but, alas, I figured the overzealous ushers would instantly recognize such repast as not being among the items regularly offered for sale within the PBA.

So, imagine my delight upon learning that RunzasTM are going to once again be available at Nebraska basketball games.  I literally jumped for joy (to the extent that what I accomplish in thrusting my carcass almost imperceptibly off the ground can be described as "jumping.")

I realized that you can smuggle whatever I want in, when we bring our baby to the game, we have a cover over the car seat/carrier to protect him from the cold air from the trek to PBA.  While they go through the wife's credit card sized purse, they never check to see if there is even a baby under the cover.  One of the games we don't bring the kids to, the baby is instead going to be a two liter of Coke, a bottle of Barcardi and a pizza...

I used to sneak sandwiches into the Bob for years, only got harassed once by an usher while eating, but it was luckily the night that the short lived Subway stand opened in the SE concourse, so I said I had gotten it there, despite the non Subway wrapping.

Well, just in case anyone really wanted to know, Greg Sharpe already asked him.  Miles likes his Runzas plain, with a little ketchup.

This seems like a decent place to ask but a little bit off topic. But do they just sell pop in cups or do they sell bottles as well? Asking for a friend

Both...bottles are typically sold in any of the stands that aren't a part of the building

Do they let you guys keep your cap off the bottle or do they take that when you make your purchase?

Why don't you come to the Michigan game tomorrow and find out for yourself?  I hear there are still some tickets available.

Oh, and Mose, don't forget to wear your red and white striped bib overalls.  Because that's what us hicks wear when we drive our tractors down to Lincoln to watch the game!

I'm confused, are you insinuating that I was calling you hicks by asking about bottle caps?  Because I wasn't, Clink takes the bottle cap away when you buy a bottle.

I thought you guys sold out for the season?  What happened?

You get them cap on which is obviously nice when you're trying to carry 4 things

  • It's just a little bit of self-depricating humor, don't worry about it

  • They took pre-orders and sold those out within a month or so, apparently some people didn't end up buying the season ticket they pre-ordered so there were some tickets available in the fall.  I believe the official UNL AD stance is that they did in fact sell out season tickets this year, but I'm skeptical.

Also, it's christmas break so they have seats available in the student section.  All-in-all the new arena's been pretty successful.  I believe we're getting to about 95% of capacity or higher every night.  Not bad considering how bad of shape our program has been in for over a decade now.

At any event, it's been a success so far, and it wouldn't surprise me to see us expanding the PBA soon to match, or perhaps exceed, the Century Link in capacity.

Student tickets during the break are sold separately.  That would be the bulk.

Then they're sold out like Nebraska Football is sold out...which means there are single tickets available most games.

Oh, yeah, you keep the cap.  They better not try taking my cap.  They can take my cap when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

It's all fun and games until some yahoo hucks his bottle, cap on, toward the court. Though I don't think that has ever happened, at least not at a Jays game. Enjoy your caps while you still can.

Interesting discussion about the caps. For the home opener against FGCU, they stole all caps at the time of purchase. I was not happy. Then the next couple home games (and ever since) they allowed you to keep your caps. I don't know for sure, but I talked to some people and they all thought the it could be a performers request that caps be confiscated at the concessions. So it could be a different story each and every time you purchase your diet Mountain Dew from event to event. This kinda made sense because I figured basketball wouldn't care until some yahoo winged a bottle. And I suppose tommy lee could have requested no caps.

What would be even more fun is taking a big bottle of PepsiTM with the cap off and dropping a MentosTM into it.  That would be a hoot!

Bad idea to sell Runzas in PBA.

There are enough noxious gasses hovering in the upper bowl as it is. And yes, if there is one thing that Runzas cause, it is noxious gas.

That is part of their charm. :)
