Huskerpapa Posted January 18, 2015 Report Posted January 18, 2015 Looks like Keanu is picking up his game... http://www.hutchnews.com/sports/ncaa/hcc-hits-triple-figures/article_9774c764-2887-59c9-a762-4c24d5a29116.html Quote
Huskerpapa Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 Pinder answered that with a 3-pointer four minutes into the half to put Hutchinson ahead 39-38, its first lead since being up 4-3. It was a big perimeter shot for a post player — or at least one accepting that role for this team. “The story should be on Pinder,” Trenkle said. “He was the biggest difference.” http://www.gctelegram.com/sports/busters-undercut-pinder-free-throws-down-gccc-at-hutch/article_9d10bdb7-81ae-5eef-b1d5-45c316c212e4.html Quote

That stat works on all levels Quote
swoof Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 9 boards to lead Hutchison, too. Things are definitely trending upward with him. Quote
swoof Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Seems to be hitting his stride. Double-double in his last game and led the team in blocks with 46 as of last Friday. Looks like he's playing in the post and doing some work on defense and rebounding. http://www.hutchnews.com/sports/blue-dragons-tackle-changing-of-the-guard/article_dd9aba2f-27df-5df8-8394-1fa10861927d.html http://www.hutchnews.com/sports/record-blue-dragon-block-party/article_cf3a75c7-f824-57c8-9d09-3b83f2ce1abf.html Quote
swoof Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Ha! This is from that second link. Pinder, an athletic 6-foot-8 forward, pounces out of nowhere. He makes the expression “he can jump out of the gym seem plausible. Pinder’s blocks, frankly, are meant to embarrass his opponents for even considering meekly putting up a shot in his direction. He happily smacks the ball into the crowd as a reminder not to bring a weak shot into his post. Quote

TheKamdyMan Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 A big positive is with his increased minutes hes really been killing it on the boards. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 I believe he is now sixth on this team in minutes dispite earning time at the beginning of the year. His play now is significant, and in a recent article I read (sorry, didn't share) mentioned his protection of the paint area. He has become a shot blocking fiend. The article kinda hinted that instead of making statement blocks into the third row of the bleachers, he may be more effective blocking them in bounds... Quote

Huskerpapa Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 Rounding into a top flight player, or so it seems: “I thought the Pinder kid was the difference,” Baumann said. Hutchinson (29-6) found a force in freshman Keanu Pinder, who put up 14 points and 15 rebounds in his first NJCAA Tournament game, guiding the No. 6 Blue Dragons to a 73-61 victory over No. 11 Trinity Valley (28-5) on Wednesday. http://www.hutchnews.com/sports/pinder-puts-dragons-in-next-round/article_34504318-51c5-5268-9edf-eb3232c9b4c8.html Quote

I take back everything bad I ever said about him. Not that anything I ever said was terribly bad, but I did express doubt about his abilities and whether he'd ever be able to contribute at this level. He's obviously showing a ton of improvement over the course of his first season playing American ball. Not sure why he didn't get more action at Sunrise Christian, but whatever happened there appears to be water under the bridge. Good for Keanu. bobcat402 1 Quote
Swan88 Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 Since when is Pinder nearly 7' tall? According to this article published yesterday, he is: "Pinder, a 6-11, 215-pounder from Australia, had 14 points and a team-high 15 rebounds." A misprint, perhaps? Quote

FredsSlacks Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 i feel like we'd know if he had a 3-4 inch growth spurt. that's a pretty crazy thing to happen for someone 20 years old. not to mention his recruiting would be 'blowing up' if he was 6'11. Quote
bobcat402 Posted March 19, 2015 Report Posted March 19, 2015 its really possible, depends on development, i myself grew another 3 inches from 19.5 to 20, and other people have done it Quote
Huskerpapa Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 Definitely worth the read. This kid keeps getting better and better and better. Five Memorable Moments The five moments that left an impression on me from this season. Keanu Pinder swatting shots into the stands - Pinder's freaky athleticism is on display anywhere from his dunks to his skying rebounds, but his thunderous blocked shots drew oohs and ahhs. Maybe a few more of those blocks can turn into fast breaks for Hutchinson in the future, but there is an argument to be made that Pinder's completely demoralizing swats have their place, too. Five Outstanding Efforts It is a team game, but these five individual performances shined bright. Keanu Pinder in 101-70 win against Colby, Jan. 17 - Freshman Keanu Pinder was blunt, if not honest - he wanted to prove he could start. In his first audition, he dropped 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting, pairing nicely with nine rebounds and five blocks. He never left the starting lineup after that. http://www.hutchnews.com/sports/blue-dragon-men-meshed-at-right-time/article_2c6998f7-fbb2-5fb9-b380-7421be6c5dff.html Quote
