uneblinstu Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 I don't believe Andre was a top 100 prospect coming out of high school or on the radar of the schools this guy seems to be talking to. Quote
Hooper Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 Even getting this kid to visit would be quite an accomplishment in my opinion, and getting his commitment would be the biggest coup thus far of the Miles recruiting era IMO when you consider that the four schools we're supposedly up against -- Minnesota, NC State, Okie State and Pitt -- all made the NCAA tournament. Norm Peterson Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 This would be so perfect. Uchebo is a true Center and would fill a HUGE need. It would also allow Pitchford to move over to the 4-Spot, which is the position where he fits best. Since he is a 3-for-3 guy, Nebraska would have 3 seasons of Pitchford, Petteway, Shields, and Uchebo playing together, in addition to the incoming freshmen class. That is alot of time for the upgrade of roster talent to get playing time together. You forgot Sergej. And Benny. Quote
hhcmatt Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 Ranked #4 Center by jucojunction.com Take this with a shot of schnapps but wasn't Andre rated in the top 5? wasn't andre also 330 pounds? By mass one of the biggest prospects we've ever had on a basektball court Quote

I guess I was talking about their playing time together, so I limited the list to players that I think actually have a shot of getting meaningful playing time... But yeah, point taken. Quote
Cybrrmonky Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 I think everyone can agree Andre had skills. The fact he never improved his conditioning the 3 years he was here is a little baffling for a division I athlete. If he could have gotten himself in shape, he would have been a force & probably could have made a living playing basketball (at least overseas). The games Andre showed flashes of his potential, we were a very hard team to beat. Unfortunately this only happened about 5 times over the course of his 3 years here. The guys dedication to improving his body was a major disappointment. Nebrasketballer 1 Quote

The article describes his visit to Minnesota over te weekend. It says he enjoyed himself and is now deciding whether to pick a school now or to take one more visit, which would be to Oklahoma State. Going into the weekend, Pittsburgh was at the top of his list. But after seeing Minnesota things might have changed. Bottom line, this article says he either picks this week or decides to go visit Oklahoma State. He doesn't mention Nebraska at all. I would've thought our staff knew for sure that they could line up a visit with Uchebo before they let Herbert walk without an offer. Or maybe one of the transfers is a big, but a transfer would have to sit this coming season. Quote

Who knows...what I do know is that anytime we seem to "lose" a guy Miles and staff have a backup plan. So lets hope that is the case if we don't get a visit from Uchebo. Quote

Norm Peterson Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 I suppose the dream was fun while it lasted... For me, it was one of those dreams where I can't really remember any of the details. Like I slept right through it. Or sumthin'. Quote
