Merlin Posted December 23, 2023 Report Posted December 23, 2023 (edited) Has entered the transfer portal. I didn’t see this one coming. Edited December 23, 2023 by Merlin 12dozen and Montana_85 F 2 Quote
12dozen Posted December 23, 2023 Report Posted December 23, 2023 Even though she was on a BBall scholarship, I think volleyball was always her preferred sport. Middle blocker seems to be a stacked position with Allick and Jackson. I wish her luck through the portal. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted December 23, 2023 Report Posted December 23, 2023 Stinks. She would have helped in Big Ten play. Quote
HUD Posted December 23, 2023 Report Posted December 23, 2023 Our only chance to keep her was if she made up her mind to play BB and give up volleyball which was a very long shot. One thing about the 3 VB players leaving NU and also a 4th ex player in Lauenstein they all have profited by being coached up by the best group of coaches in the nation. Maybe she will go to Texas since they were recruiting her as a dual athlete originally. They do lose Middle Asa O'Neil. I hope she would go to BYU or Utah closer to home. Silverbacked1 1 Quote

Cazzie22 Posted December 23, 2023 Report Posted December 23, 2023 Well, that was a wasted BB scholarship. Amy better find a big with the now available scholarship. I wish the young lady well. whoopdeedoo 1 Quote
HUD Posted December 23, 2023 Report Posted December 23, 2023 With Alexis and Anika both in their last year next year and no bigs in next years class they just signed, it's pretty obvious that we will have to hit the portal after this season. We presently have two unused scholarships this season and will still have two to use next year or it could be four available if Krull and Stewart don't come back for their covid year. hskr4life Posted December 23, 2023 Report Posted December 23, 2023 Don’t know if there is anything available, but with the auto play transfer waiver right now.. if something is available they may be able to play in Jan. Quote

Kennadi is part of our current recruiting class, but do you think she will be on scholarship? Is it a guarantee Krull and Stewart get full rides for a 5th year? I'm asking. Is Nebraska obligated? NIL could also come into play. We could get creative, and have lots of room for new players. Then again, when was the last time Coach Williams operated with a full roster? Quote
Tom Jones Posted December 24, 2023 Report Posted December 24, 2023 Kennedi is coming in on a softball scholarship so that leaves another one open for BB. I wonder if there is any chance that MM will not transfer out until summer and will therefore be able to play bb the rest of this season. And even if so, if she would be less enthusiastic. After the kick in the pants that was WL's defection to TX, this adds a little more pain. Wonder if Cook will be looking for a back up middle in the portal for use in case of injury to BA or AJ. Quote
HUD Posted December 24, 2023 Report Posted December 24, 2023 Cook is pretty innovative. In a pinch Batenhorst could play middle and one of our other left side hitters could switch to right side if Beason would get hurt. He also has a big class coming in 2025. Quote

Has to be hard for someone to not play, when they have been a stud since they laced up shoes. You could see the frustration in her eyes. Yet when she got opportunities, she played pretty well. I wish her well in her next destination. Well, might depend on where that is Neb Nets 1 Quote

Neb Nets Posted December 24, 2023 Report Posted December 24, 2023 Anyhoo, everyone feeling super confident about this team’s outlook heading into Big Ten play? Yeah, me neither. I’ll be thrilled with a .500 conference record and a middle of the pack finish. 12dozen, All About the Corn, Cazzie22 and 2 others 5 Quote
HUD Posted December 24, 2023 Report Posted December 24, 2023 We need a totally healed up Stewart and everybody else to stay healthy. I expect a different attitude after the break as Williams looked pretty pissed after the loss to Kansas. She also needs to quit pulling Potts out after 3 to 4 minutes into the qtr. and replacing her with Coley. It has happened a lot the last couple of games. Potts came in on fire and Amy looks like the fireman trying to cool her down. I can tolerate a freshman making a mistake but we look the other way when even worse mistakes are made by upper classmen. But there has never been a mention of her being a walk-on. Which is mind-boggling. Hell, Doug McDermott was a walk-on, and Kennadi is no McDermott. Neb Nets, 12dozen and All About the Corn 3 Quote

That is kind of a pattern. Not just with Potts. It really "bugs" me when a player or a group of players are pretty much on fire, scoring well, controlling the game well...and they get pulled. .........More of the same conversation about substitution patterns. 12dozen Posted December 24, 2023 Report Posted December 24, 2023 It is as if she is going off a script, regardless of how the game is going. Bugs me too. All About the Corn 1 Quote
