redsteve Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) We're fairly even teams in some respects. Their record is nearly the same as ours. But our schedule is stronger. They're similar in size. This is for position in the B1G race. Need to slow down McDaniel (I think that's her name)...she's been around the block, has lots of experience and is about 23 or 24. Played for Baylor and someone else previously as I recall. Yes, must start fast and never slow down. Guards and Issie attack the basket, and Markowski have another double double. Home game so that's worth maybe 10. A win will be just fine thank you ! Edited February 2, 2023 by redsteve Red Don and whoopdeedoo 1 1 Quote
HUD Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 No guarantee but Michigan State hasn't played very well over the years in Lincoln. whoopdeedoo and mwm89 1 1 Quote
Tom Jones Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 Objectives: no lazy leisurely lofted cross court passes that are easy pickins secure rebounds - no permitting quick footed, quick handed opponents to snatch the ball off our hands before it is secured bigs can't get the ball so deep in the lane that there is no room to lay it at least 30% success on threes whoopdeedoo, Red Don and NUtball 3 Quote
Cazzie22 Posted February 2, 2023 Report Posted February 2, 2023 For this team there are no surefire wins. Michigan State is more than capable of beating us tonight. We have to play for forty (40) minutes which we have been unable to do. We need a win. whoopdeedoo, huskerchode, All About the Corn and 1 other 4 Quote
All About the Corn Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 So where is Suzy for MSU? Quote
Cazzie22 Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 I guess we are just going to be sloppy with the basketball. Passing into the post cost us three turnovers early. Bourne is scoring early and we take her out of the game. Sigh. Defense is playing fairly well. Red Don 1 Quote

Neb Nets Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 Friends, next year we are going to miss Sam’s driving to the hoop and laying it in patented move. I’ve enjoyed watching it the past several seasons. NUtball, Fly, Montana_85 F and 3 others 4 2 Quote
redsteve Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 Really nice 2nd qtr. Got into a better flow as game went on. Were attacking the basket well, then got the 3's to fall...shooting average overall is very good. Our rebounding is going well too. Markowski may have close to 10 already. And defensively we're holding them down. Issie had a great fist half. Playing as well as she ever has. Sam is back Neb Nets, 12dozen and Montana_85 F 1 2 Quote

Cazzie22 Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 We need to keep up the pace as I expect MSU to be more effective on offense. Glad we have an 18 point lead and everyone has contributed. Red Don 1 Quote

We're going to have to develop/vary our attack on the basket; too many passes into the post where there are three defenders to intercept the ball, or disrupt the shot (We've seen better teams completely disrupt our offense; nor are we getting any fouls called for FTs or 'and ones'). How about some 'cutters' or backside to the rim for buckets. We need to vary our offense especially in the paint. mwm89 Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 The execution has been good overall. Issie taking advantage of her height advantage, and a good % of threes going in. Need to protect home court. Quote

mwm89 Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) MSU in prime position to make a push in the 4th. We need to amp up the execution and intensity in order to finish out successfully. Seemed a little careless in the 3rd. Edited February 3, 2023 by mwm89 Cazzie22 and Montana_85 F 2 Quote
Cazzie22 Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 Sloppy play let’s MSU back in the game.Markowski isn’t supposed to inbound the ball against the press. If we don’t handle the ball better and treasure possession of the ball we may be in a scrap to the end. Jaz does some magical passes but she made two horrific passes that cost us baskets. Red Don Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 A little bit of a let-down at the end of the Third Qtr. MSU successfully 'uglies' up the game for some turnovers and points the cut the Huskers lead from as much as 21 pts to 13 points ending the Quarter; 53-40. Will have to concentrate and protect the ball in the Fourth! mwm89 1 Quote
mwm89 Posted February 3, 2023 Report Posted February 3, 2023 Getting the ball back into Issie a good place to start. Quote
