They live and die for beating Nebraska. They could be 0-20 but still have their best game of the year against us. They live by the three. and have a couple that can shoot them. They usually don't make lots of errors, or turnovers. We must defend the perimeter. We got beat last year with poor perimeter defense. mwm89 and 12dozen 2 Quote
Red Don Posted December 14, 2020 Report Posted December 14, 2020 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~GRIT; NO QUIT ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Nebraska women's basketball team hits the road for the first time in 2020-21 when the Huskers travel to Omaha to collide with Creighton. Nebraska improved to 3-0 on the season by opening Big Ten play with a 78-72 victory over Illinois at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Thursday night. Junior guard Sam Haiby led the Huskers with a career-high 33 points, including 21 in the second half, to fuel a Nebraska rally from a five-point deficit midway through the fourth quarter. She added nine rebounds and four assists in the game, while scoring six points during a decisive 13-0 Husker run over a three-minute span in the fourth quarter.Scouting Creighton Coach Jim Flanery brings Creighton into Monday's game against Nebraska with a 1-3 record after a 88-41 win at Butler in CU's BIG EAST opener. Prior to the win, Creighton got off to an 0-3 start against traditionally strong regional opponents, a 75-62 loss to Drake in CU's only home game, a 55-52 loss at Northern Iowa and a 66-47 loss at nationally ranked South Dakota State. As a team, Creighton continues to love the three, connecting on an average of 9-of-25 threes per game early this season (36-110, .327). In the win over Butler, CU buried 15-of-34 long-range attempts, outscoring Butler 45-9 from beyond the arc. Overall, the Jays are shooting just 35.3 percent (84-238) from the field. CU is outstanding at the stripe, connecting on 81.8 percent (45-55) of its free throws. Despite being a bit undersized, Creighton has held its own on the glass (35.0-37.5). The Jays own a plus-2.3 turnover margin. 12dozen and mwm89 2 Quote

whoopdeedoo Posted December 14, 2020 Report Posted December 14, 2020 with Creighton being fairly "small", you would think this has the potential for Cain to have a decent game rebounding and scoring. Creighton has one player that is listed at 6'2" (Parham...sp?) and she avg's about 10 minutes per game. be pretty disappointing if Cain can't get some points in the paint. hope Bella has another good game rebounding...would think she starts again. mwm89, Red Don and 12dozen 1 2 Quote

Inside scoring will likely have to counter their 3 pt. shooting. We had better be active on the boards, with few 2+ chance opps. per possession for CU. Expect to have success in the paint. Just feel we're stronger inside than in years past. Offensively and defensively. Cain, Bella, Stewart, and Izzy. Also expect for Creighton to try to have some answer for their lack of size. Kind of comes down to they have to make shots. They may try to push the ball downcourt on fast breaks...we can not fall asleep, ..must get back on defense. Edited December 14, 2020 by redsteve 12dozen, Red Don and whoopdeedoo 3 Quote
12dozen Posted December 14, 2020 Report Posted December 14, 2020 If I were Creighton, I would defend end to end. Contest every inbound pass. Pressure, pressure, pressure. I think they are undermanned, and need to force turnovers or have an exceptional shooting game, to win. Regardless of their game plan, it is another excellent learning opportunity, for our Lady Huskers. It has been fun, watching the team develop and gel, game by game. GBR Red Don 1 Quote
Fastbreaker Posted December 14, 2020 Report Posted December 14, 2020 Of course they will have an exceptional shooting game. They always do against Nebraska. Quote

redsteve Posted December 14, 2020 Author Report Posted December 14, 2020 (edited) One team knows how to play intensive defense, the other no so much. It's called hustle, blocking out...which we don't do. I've seen Cravens and Issy do it...don't know where they learned it Edited December 14, 2020 by redsteve 4huskers, Cazzie22 and mwm89 3 Quote
