Reminds me a little of Roby.  So if we can point to Roby now and say “This is where you’ll be in 4 years” that might bode well for us.  That and the large amount of PT opening up after this year.

Wow.  Nothing like offering a top 50 player 3 1/2 months before NLI signing day.

The KUs of the world can swoop in at the end of the recruiting cycle and walk away with some upper level recruits, but typically the Nebraskas of the world cannot.  We generally have to build a relationship over a long period and then hold on when the big boys figure out we've got a player.  There must be more to this particular story that we've extended this offer and didn't offer, for instance, the #4 player in the nation who's also a SF and uncommitted.

He's slender like Roby, but that's about where the comparisons stop.  From the very brief video I saw of him (very small sample size) my impression is that this is a very skilled player who's probably a better shooter than Roby but doesn't have Roby's explosive leaping ability.  If he had Roby's ups, he'd be top 20 instead of top 35.

The thing that's putting Roby into the first round draft pick discussion is that his skills are catching up to his elite athleticism. This kid appears to have those two parts of the equation reversed.  He's more skilled than he is athletic.  Which isn't to say he doesn't have athleticism or can't build on what he does have; it's just that his skills are at a higher level.

Hopefully, this is more than just throwing an offer out there and hoping.  Hopefully, there's some reason to believe he might actually have some interest.

247 has him going to KU, but we wouldn't have offered him if we didn't think he'd be interested.. right?? @hhcdimes

We just need to get him on campus for a visit, and let our setup win him over.

Kansas currently has 26 offers out for the class of 2019 with 2 (though there will be more) open schollies.

Depending on what position you have him at (Verbal Commits says SG) he is either the 6th highest rated SG or 4th highest rated SF on their list.

To me the real interesting thing is that this is a Texas kid who plays for Texas Nike Team Drive Nation. Miles doesn't follow a ton of people on twitter, but this is one of them and he's followed them for at least a year so he's the connection and is probably the one who made the offer. Here is their twitter https://twitter.com/DrivenationEYBL

He has 20+ Div 1 offers so it's good to be him.

Interestingly, he tweeted on June 22 that he would be cutting his list of schools and setting up visits after the Peach Jam in mid-July.

Well, we didn't even offer until after his projected cut date.  So ...

The news of this offer is very curious.

Posting his top 10 soon, will be a good indicator if we are actually involved or not for the next year of deciding
