Anyone watching UConn tonight ?

The national title game goes on no matter what's happening here.

UConn has stepped up their offense's speed tonight. Want's to score and not let Syracuse set up their defense.

UConn killing the boards..blocking shoots...Stewart's going crazy.

Unfortunately, UConn is still going to be awfully good next year.  I thought Syracuse was quick, but UConn made them look average.

"Fluid" comes to mind. Their execution is just very exact and no wasted motion. Their play together is remarkable. They all "see" the court and play team ball so well/

They may slow down a step or two losing the three seniors, but will just reload.

the one thing that comes to my mind is it is tough to find a women's team that has a "feel" for the game of basketball like uconn-----and i am saying you can go right down the line with the players. i guess you would call it a high basketball "IQ". that's mostly natural, but, auriemma runs with it and makes it jell (like him or not).

It was interesting to hear the commentary about his coaching style during the game last night, given the accusations that we have read about regarding Yori.  At one point the comment was made about Geno that he had reduced each of his players to tears at least once during their tenure at UConn.  There was a brief video of him criticizing Stewart in a practice that her play on the drill was "terrible".  Some comments were also made that it may take a few years after graduating before a UConn player likes Geno.  It really sounded like he sort of tears them down, then works hard to build them back up and turn them into better players.  And it certainly seems to have worked for UConn.  But if he wasn't winning all those games, would there be a problem?

I thought the same thing.

How ironic, with what we're dealing with here @ NU,with alleged "bullying" that the most successful WBB coach in the land coaches with such a heavy hand.

When you win multiple national championships and are far and above every other team in the land, it is not bullying, it is called tough love.

I'm kind of tired of that word "bullying".  Honestly, I feel it is thrown around too much in all aspects of life.  Daughter once had a basketball coach that wasn't afraid to call players out for mistakes during a game.  Sometimes he would bench them, oftentimes he would swear in the huddle.  But there was never any doubt in my mind (or hers she informed me) that he had her best interests at heart and was pushing her to be a better player.  Also know of a coach in a different sport that will call athletes dumb, fat, lazy whenever he sees them, even if it is at the mall.  Now that would qualify as just being an ass in my book.  When you are a kid, you sometimes need to learn to exist with the assholes of the world, because if you don't learn how to when you are young, you probably never will.

And sometimes when you're an asshole you need to learn how to not be an asshole.

In an ideal world, people wouldn't have to adapt so as to deal with assholes, the assholes would adapt to not being assholes.

Yes, in an ideal world.  There are mixed messages that go out to kids in this situation.  For instance, if that coach who calls kids fat, dumb, lazy, etc was instead a kid doing the name calling, they would likely be in trouble.  The school would label that "bullying".  I've seen kids get into trouble for way less than that.  I guess that is how they are teaching kids to not be assholes.

Bullying is such a broad category these days.  A lot seems to fall into it.  I have to wonder about these accusations of bullying that have been mentioned in articles about Yori's resignation.  To be honest, I am skeptical about it.  However, if she was doing something (or not doing something) that added to the problem of player injuries, then that would be an issue that needs to be corrected immediately.  So we will see what the injury situation will be with the new coach this winter.
