2021 SG Hunter Sallis ->Gonzaga->Wake Forest

Maybe he will attend the Wiz Khalifa concert while here... -
I've advocated for this young man since high school. W e recruited and actually had a committal from North Stars starting guard. If you remember that guard was signed by Miles and then went to Okie State when Miles was fired. That said, that guard was not the best player on the North Star team. The best player was Josiah. I would welcome him here in a nano-second. He would bring the hustle and basketball IQ that every team needs.

Keeping up with the offers/visits

Wow. I think he had a couple brothers that we recruited here...for football. -
Blaise's body really should not be falling apart. He is finally eating nutritionally after years of being half starved. He has not overly stressed his body on the hardwood; but yet he has struggled now for two years with lower body issues. Perhaps, just perhaps, the medical, weight and nutrition staff can concoct an elixir that fixes the problem(s). He could be a good option for us, especially within the Big Ten.

I think she was referring to the Iowa State Cyclones...

Fun article to read. You can tell that it has been converted to English; that is what makes it fun(ny). It does tell us why he wears #51. https://commentaryboxsports.com/groningens-basketball-pride-reinke-mast-21-takes-a-new-big-step-in-his-career-and-ends-up-under-a-great-coach/

Not 100% sure, but I am hoping it is pronounced "money."

Perhaps. If you remember the end of this past season we even had Keisei in the high post setting picks. The versatile nature of Fred's offense allows pretty much anyone to play any role. I sort of think that is what we are hearing from our incoming players. They seem to enjoy the outlook of playing in Fred's system.

Is assistant coach Tom G. moving on or retiring?

Hmm, it was in my e-edition of the LJS. That is sort of wierd. I'm seeing a number of tweets and re-tweets as well. Regardless, there is a bit of strangeness in the timing of his departure. Yes, there is quite a bit of activity right now with Men's basketball recruiting, the finalization of the Women's Australian recruit, softball, baseball, Women's bowling championship, Men's golf setting a record, track and field events, new Big Ten Commissioner along with high school events popping everywhere; but perhaps one of the writers could have broke loose to simply ask, why now and what is next. https://cornhuskerswire.usatoday.com/2023/04/15/nebraska-womens-basketball-assisant-retires-to-pursue-mission-work/ -
I was there, as was Coach Rhule and a number of players.
-
He sort of seems to be that hard nosed gritty type that the home team loves and everyone else can't stand him. Perhaps he will somehow have a six year career here.

Man, at first I thought you meant women's basketball

Wow. Nice get. What a great week. Welcome to the real land of red young man!

One thought to the "point guard" debate. So much depends upon the offense being run. In Fred's offense it does not appear necessary to have the prototypical point guard. An initiator of the offense is not an individual responsibility. Rather it is predicated upon numerous factors and situations. I guess the biggest roles of a PG is being the eyes, ears and voice of the coach on the floor. A genuine leader so-to-speak. To me Verge and Mack were failures in that role, where players like Sam and Jeter were more successful. So long story short, Sallis could be successful. QM and Ramel could be successful as well...time will tell. And oh yeah, if we worry about breaking a press; a dribbling point guard, flittering through a press is somewhat archaic. A point forward (such as Walker or Pike) seems more successful, or at least it has worked best for us. Or, schematically busting a press is back breaking to a pressing team. Seems like Fred knows what he wants, and I hope he finds the right mix.

I'm sure hoping and praying you are wrong. This is a solid young man with outstanding work ethic. We shall see.

Good for him! -
I also am aware that about 15 players from our football roster will soon be looking to play elsewhere. Perhaps one or more of them can play basketball at a high level
-
Ramel is a point guard. Born and bred to do so. But yeah, he certainly has the body of an off guard or wing. Sort of like Sam G. So right now we have Ramel and Quaron as our two point guards. One more would be good. http://naturalstatesports.com/mbb-recruiting-getting-to-know-ramel-lloyd-jr/

The only player not capable of playing in the "five out" or open post offense is Blaise. Sort of the same as this past year.

Ummm...

Untuckit or bucket

Hmm. Wonder who his source was???
