Seton Hall (1-0) vs. Nebraska (2-0) Game Thread

Brady’s length has made a difference on a few offensive boards- he is a bit quicker to the ball too. Miles has no qualms going deeper than I thought in a tighter game. -

Brady looks like he belongs more than I thought he would before the season started. Nana is still playing a bit timid- Harris is kind of out of control. Roby HAS to stay out of foul trouble, at this point he’s his own best defender - -
SE LA Hoops: Well this is a bit unusual

Interesting that Greg had such lengthy conversations with Dawkins. I mean, he’s quite the Chatty Cathy on a few of those calls...just discussing the weather, Omaha’s Zoo, that he should try a Runza, and details on the exchange of money. I’d also like to know Greg’s definition of a “lucrative job” you just create a position inside FNB or Union Pacific??

Offensively, Jack could shoot and could’ve helped last year. But his defense was a liability, so it kept him on the pine. A scrimmage like this doesn’t lend itself to showing some of the small things that could be the difference of seeing more pt or not. Miles did say on KLIN with Jack Mitchell that he was going to give Thorir a chance to play this year...

For the record, I’d take Ping in a fight over Dabbert in a heartbeat -

I was there too. My brother and I went to the summer league game when Sallie crossed a CU guy at the top of the key, drove, and dunked on Pierce Hibma so hard his mom got injured. I was sitting next to John Turek’s dad and he states “that guy is gonna be elite” sigh.... -
Miles has repeatedly said that Tom needs to play “outside of his personality “ because he’s pretty chill and laid back off the court

My greatest Shang Ping memory is when he hard fouled Joe Dabbert during a summer league game in Omaha...and Chad Millard started barking, only to have Ricky Thenarse challenge him to a fight. ? Millard tucked real fast... -
I wouldn’t take too much away from the actual scrimmage...Miles mentioned they had a hard practice earlier, plus the pre-scrimmage scrimmage, so fatigue and just the factors of a really long day were at play. Burke can flat out play. Nice quickness. Donovan Williams looks like he’s 28.

Tickets: Anyone received them yet?

Mine arrived today, which was a very nice lift to a rather blah Monday -
I seriously thought Corey Simms could’ve been a TE or OLB for our football team. Guy was like 6’5” and 215ish. Akol looks like he has a 36+ inch vertical and has much more bounce and spring to his game. For the record, Id take a Corey Simms too...

This is the kind of kid that in previous years, goes to SDSU or Creighton and blows up (Daum, K.Thomas, J. Patton) and Miles gets blasted for not being able to get them. I’d rather Miles take a gamble on an in-State kid than land another Nate Hawkins/Tarin Smith/Bakari type of gamble. His HUDL looks impressively athletic to me. If he is like another Ade, good lord we got a good one.

As a guy who works with numerous CU alums who have no problems trolling me year round in both football and basketball, I can’t wait for tomorrow. I had previously scheduled a vacation day tomorrow, but just suddenly remembered I forgot something at the office, and will most certainly be stopping in to “discuss” this with all of the Bluejay alums...

It’s too bad it starts at 5, us Omaha fans who work traditional office jobs will make it down there in time for the autographs...

He’s got a really nice looking jump shot- and range. And he still has two more years to develop
-
I’m thinking he is flying a bit under the radar, though he had a big July. Maybe our version of a Kyhri Thomas

The Real Mike Peltz would be honored....?

So, Brady isn’t redshirtin’. Just sayin’

I liked Barry, he was always very professional and was initially brought in to clean up the mess academically that it was in, and Collier had an almost near perfect graduation rate with his seniors while at NU. I know multiple sources said Byrne liked Collier because of his values, and told Barry to recruit the state as a top priority the first year or two. Losing Spinelli that spring was going to be a blow. He landed the better recruits, including Joe McCray and Jamel White. I also thought Corey Simms, Charles Richardson, Nate Johnson, Aleks Maric, and Marcus Perry were fun to watch. The team that waxed Kansas in Lincoln was a fun team, Conklin, Drevo, and Nate Johnson all had nice seasons. Barry was the last coach to beat Creighton in Omaha, I believe. (NIT) I think Barry did an ok job but wasn’t going to get is to where we all want to be...on an interesting note, I looked at an old LJS article about BC resigning to go to butler, they named the top two candidates as Jim Christian and Mark Fox.

Nationally, not too many give Lue much credit because he’s coaching Lebron, so it should be “easy” to get to the finals. Funny how Phil Jackson was the “zen master” and he coached MJ, Kobe, and Shaq...

So...where was the ominous roster news from back in March? If we get through this offseason only losing Jack, I’d say we made it through the summer just fine!
