Nebraska (16-8) vs. Wisconsin (10-12) Game Thread
Faux Mike Peltz replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
We need to come out in the second half with some renewed energy, get our big three going with solid contributions from our role players, and we win by 10. -
It’s an awful lot to ask a team to prepare for four offensive threats, which I think we have in Palmer, Copeland, Roby, and Glynn, even though Glynn isn’t shooting much lately. Fun atmosphere. Scored four lower level tickets VS my normal 200 and it was a fun upgrade. Glad to see ET have a solid game. Jordy had a very good game, wonder if that’s why Duby and Tanner didn’t play? Bohannon reminds me of a Creighton player. Tyler Cook is a beast. All in all, a good win!

There were some prime bleacher seats in the bob back in the day...must’ve been a game during holiday break..

How many future pros are on our roster?
Faux Mike Peltz replied to PimpMario's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I’m by no means an NBA scout, but I have league pass and catch as many games as I can throughout the week, which is typically a dozen or so...I know, I’m a rare diehard NBA fan. I tend to agree with basketballjones, while I think Roby has the potential to be an NBA player, he’s a ways away from that happening. His build/frame is kind of like Paul George, I believe Roby is 6-8, 214 with a 7-2 wingspan, PG is 6-9, 220 with a 7-1 wingspan. I see Roby playing the three in the NBA, so his ability to guard the perimeter will have to get better. Some smaller details, I think it was against Illinois he threw a skip pass to Tom Allen and it was about four feet too high, Miles even mentioned it on his radio show, those type of things need to tighten up. I do agree that Roby probably doesn’t know how good he can be and he’s somewhat raw, he’s not there yet, but could certainly be in the future. I also agree that BK being the only option would be a bad thing, their fries need help! -
Palmer has more length and probably three inches taller. I certainly see the comparison, Cookie was a very fun player to watch. Speaking of comparisons, I slightly missed years ago when I saw Chris Balham in practice and told a guy next to me he could be like LaPhonso Ellis.

Nebraska (14-7) vs. Rutgers (12-9) Game Thread

An important conference road win. Good win. Now let’s smoke Iowa! -
In a game like this, where we played not our best and still kept it close, the little things add up. Duby coming in and basically causing two turnovers on screens, ET losing the ball on a layup, Roby missing the front of a one and one, Glynn getting behind his man and fouling towards the end, you can’t overcome those type of things if you aren’t playing well and still expect to win the game.

We need to attack more and then kick if collapsed upon...Gill and Watson are colder than the weather. -

I saw Greg McDermott earlier and he said watch out, they are really good. And he was right. - Love it. -
Rumour du jour: Possible Jordy Transfer
Faux Mike Peltz replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
ET is one of the captains and a supposed glue guy off the court. Heck, he tweets about his dude’s Podcast and tells people to check it out (McVeigh) so hopefully he and other leaders on the team can forgive and move on either way. This is a big week at the vault! -
Rumour du jour: Possible Jordy Transfer
Faux Mike Peltz replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Ok, since nothing is official yet, I’m going to bring up the scenario that I hope happens (wishful thinking) so let’s say Jordy decides he was just confused, apologizes to the team, and decides to stay. Does Miles insert him back in the lineup right away, or is there some sort of punishment for missing the PSU game and practice on Saturday? Either way, a tough situation. -
Rumour du jour: Possible Jordy Transfer

Ubel’s best year was under Miles I think...probably had more to do with him being a senior than anything... -
I agree. I didn’t have my son with me for the BC game, but did for the other three games he’s come to Minny, KU, and Wiscy. I’ve turned around to give him the look a few times but he blankly stares ahead. I’m certainly going to say something Monday night, could honestly see it resulting in a not so pleasant confrontation, so hopefully those PBA ushers will be close by lol.

Moos Finally Attends a Nebrasketball Game
Faux Mike Peltz replied to HuskerFever's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
And look at our roster and the core coming back next year...we could be borderline scary good. -
Been to every home game this season. Not bragging, just saying I’ve seen some dead crowds this season and some better ones. Thought the crowd VS Minny was pretty good. KU game had its moments. Even a few times VS. BC too. Personally, I was disappointed in the Husker Power chant for the Wiscy game. They even flash the spot lights now to help (this started after the Eichorst departure) My seats are in the front row of the 200 level, above the student section behind the hoop. I swear to you, 90% of them just cross their arms or don’t do anything or are on their phones during the opponent’s free throws. Come on students, put some effort into it. Pet Peeve #1: Fans leaving way early. I drive from Omaha and understand sneaking out with a minute left if the game is well in hand. But fans start the walk with 9 minutes left, and each deadball more and more leave. New Pet Peeve #2: I’ve had my same seats since PBA has opened. New guys sitting behind me this year. Initially seemed like good fans, but the one guy drops an F bomb almost every fourth word. F’in Evan Taylor, F’in refs, F’in Miles, F’in Jordy sucks, F’in had a burger, the walk was F’in cold, these hot dogs are F’in good, what the F type of shot was that Copeland? F’in drive the ball Roby, F’in Glynn sucks tonight, etc, etc. Now, I’m not saying PBA needs to be like church. I get into the games and cheer and yell and scream Go Big Red with the best of them. But I bring my 11 year old to the games and honestly won’t bring my 8 year old daughter, I don’t want her exposed to 75 F bombs per game. And I don’t like it when guys who don’t look like they can even play rec ball call our players dumbasses and dumbsh#* either. I would think most people who talk like that would perhaps try to show some restraint around younger kids, but this guy must not care. He only has showed up to the bigger games, but it’s certainly made going to the games a little less fun.

Rumour du jour: Possible Jordy Transfer
Faux Mike Peltz replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
The past few years my son has attended the Husker buddies event that Coach Miles puts on. First year my son attends it’s at PBA and he plays Tarin Smith one on one. Last year at the event he plays both Morrow and Jacobsen one on one. This year, a few weeks ago, of course he plays Jordy. BTW, this is his last year attending, next year he’s too old. So, the Roster should stabilize. -
Glad to see Jordy have a solid game. These are the types of games why it’s inportant to keep him engaged VS writing him (or anyone for that matter) off. Starting backcourt gives us like five points total and we still win. We need ET as a defender though. Love the flashes we saw from Thomas tonight. He’s a gamer. Thought our Defense was really solid tonight. Good communication. Some of the mental things perplexed me, those late turnovers...wow Refs had a tough first and second half. Not consistent. Good win for us, but we will need to play much better Friday to get the W.
-
My takeaways and observations: Jordy shouldn’t start. Duby and Tanner are better currently. Wish Roby had more confidence We have to value the ball Glynn needs to be more consistent we need Palmer, Copeland, and Glynn firing on all cylinders to beat the top teams in the Big Ten, but probably not so much against the lower tiered teams... Onward and Upward
