Geesh guys, I come here for sunshine pumping and kool aid drinking.  These last several posts have taken me back to dark times and sadness.  Let's get back on topic...Hoiberg ball will take us to multiple final fours and national championships.  Just wait until we have sharp shooters next year.  I will predict us to go undefeated!  Banners will hang from the rafters and parade routes will be drawn!  A separate trophy building will have to be built.  Let's not dwell on mostly 100 years of sadness. There, that was therapeutic and I feel better. Back to drinking.  😃

Webster seems like a kid smart enough to nab a master’s degree and get immediately into coaching, hence the willingness to play another year.

In all seriousness, as bad as that loss hurts, we have 9 games on the road in big ten play. (Minn, Maryland, Iowa, IU, Rutgers, UM, MSU, Purdue, illinois, PSU).
We are 0-2 on the road right now, both failed opportunities yes. I still can see them getting about 4-5 wins maybe 6 depending how you feel about Purdue, IU, or Penn State.

Sky isn't falling. Let's relax. Winnable game again yes. Thought Nana should've gotten a little bit more run. That could've played into jpjs sloppiness in the second half. FTs cost us that game and we are top 3 in conference at shooting FTs. I'm upset but I'm not overreacting. As long as they take care of business at home this year and win 4-6 road big ten games they should be fine.

Posted this in the opponent's thread.  KenPom has kept us at #15.  We lost exactly 1 one hundredth of a point on Wisconsin from before the game tonight.

It depends on who we beat and the B1G bouncing back but yeah this is conceivable though maybe tack on 1 or 2 more wins for that high of a seed.
Look at teams like Florida who went 20-11 (11-7 in conference) and earned a 6 seed or TCU who went 21-10 (9-9 in conf) for a 6 seed.
The things these team have in common is that they both played Top 30 KenPom schedules (I assume this translates to RPI)

    8 noncon wins
    (easier ones)
    1.Miss Valley St
    2.SELA
    3.SW Min St.
    4.W. Illinois
    5.Cal St Fulerton
    6. Missouri St (neutral)

    Choose two more from
    Seton Hall - H
    Creighton - H
    Texas Tech/USC (N)
    Okie St (N)
    Clemson (R)

Look at our conference schedule and in this brand new year and everyone is good.  Illinois and Rutgers are projected to be the worst teams and we're playing both of them on the road.
It's not too far fetched to think we will have a top 15-30 SOS.
Too bad Miles gets fired after earning that 5 seed, winning a tourney game but not hitting 22 wins. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I know it's still technically football season for some of our less intelligent/less interesting friends out there, but I was wondering if that Bill Moos guy is going to be able to focus on more than one sport at a time this year. The early results from this team are surely disappointing to him so I look forward to his next public comments with bated breath.

While at Nebraska, JBD lacked that "killer instinct" you want D-I athletes to have. I remember reading an article where JBD was asked, "If you could have any super power, what would it be?" His answer was "invisibility". I'm not sure a guy who wishes he was invisible is capable of being a better college player than Maric, but he absolutely would have been a welcome addition to any roster in recent memory.

It appears JBD has found some confidence, improved his game, found a perfect fit, or whatever now; but as a 20 year-old kid, I don't think him being healthy would have necessarily equated to a drastically better performance on the court.

Full disclaimer, I am fairly young and the first Nebrasketball team I remember watching is the 2000-01 squad led by Cookie Belcher.  So there may be some recency bias here, especially since the Tim Miles Era has produced much more athletic ability than the Barry Collier or Doc Sadler eras.

Without further ado, my own personal top 5 Nebrasketball dunks of all time:

    1. Jason Dourisseau breaks the basket.  I'll admit I did not watch this one live, but did listen to the call on the radio and saw it on Sportscenter the next day.

    2. Caleb Walker Alley-Oop vs. Illinois.  One-handed alley oop from a pass outside the three point line... incredible.

    3. Isaac Copeland posterizes 7'2" Isaac Haas.

    4. Sek Henry posterizes Andre Drummond.  Technically not a Nebrasketball dunk but I can't leave this one out.

    5. James Palmer Jr. posterizes Kevin Huerter.  This may not even be JPJ's best dunk but in the moment it so unexpected and dunking over a first-round NBA talent is a big deal.

    Honorable mention:

    * Roby rises up vs. Rutgers:

    * David Rivers dunk vs FGCU to open up the PBA

    * The Aleks Maric dunk, which always looked the same

    * JPJ Kobe Bryant dunk vs. Penn St.

    * The Cookie Miller dunk (he claimed he could do it but don't think I ever saw it)

    * Terran Petteway posterize vs. Baylor in the NCAA Tournament.  would have made the list if this game had gone well

It's just a lazy reason to hate on a coach, IMO.  Just like whining about a guy getting "outcoached" after a loss.  I remember listening to the Dakich radio show from Indy when he had Coach Miles on and people were calling in to whine about Crean's poor coaching ability and Dakich asked the caller to give a specific example of what he was talking about.  The caller said something about substitution patterns or something and Dakich just went nuclear on the dude calling him an idiot and what the hell did he know about substitution patterns.  I thought it was funny.  Anyway, I don't put too much stock in people's opinions on coaching too much.  Let 'em complain.

People hate on Dakich but I think he's pretty knowledgeable.

I don't get the Miles doesn't develop players take.  I think Petteway and Webster developed very well, even Borchardt is.  Other than opinion how does one establish what coaches develop players well and which ones do not.  It seems like it is hard to measure whether it is coach development or player ceiling that determines and work that determines whether a player improves.

Not trying to start something with ya' Royal just wondering if there is more to discuss here.  I look at Daum and Kaminsky as guys that really developed.  I suppose if you win games and players improve you get the credit right?

Coach Hunter helped develop big men while at Georgetown, did he lose a significant amount of brain cells between then and now?  It is my understanding that a lot of work goes into the development of players, I am not convinced the lack of development (if that is real or perceived) falls solely on the coaches.

Likely not a popular opinion, but I have to get this off my chest: If true and his pending transfer is due to him being unhappy about how the season is going for him, it might be one of the more selfish decisions I've seen in some time. I have some reservations about Miles & Company on several things, but it appears to me the staff has gone above and beyond trying to get this guy going. He's been given opportunity after opportunity this year and outside of the Wisconsin game, has been mostly ineffective. To quit on his team at this point in the season is about as "me first" as it gets.

Not an apologist just tired of the coaching carousel. It is killing our program. We will never get out of this cycle if we continue to fire coaches. If Miles is fired we will once again be looking for the next up and coming mid-major coach. There will be mass defections which will set us back at least 4yrs if not longer. At some point

Conveniently left out rebounding, scoring, assists, blocks and steals. I wonder why?
Let me help you out. They were all improved with fewer games played. 4 of the 5 of those are hustle and intelligence plays.
So he's doing more than crushing it in practice and meeting rooms.

I've watched AWIII in person while he has been on Syracuse's roster and I paid very particular attention to his game play:

    1. Yes. He plays the full 40 minutes. He gets a lot of points for the team, but he's not very efficient getting to those points. He's much more of a volume shooter, especially considering the amount of time he's out on the court.

    2. He spends minimal energy throughout the entire game. Whenever there were free throws by the opposing team, he would literally stand right under the Syracuse hoop every single time. Whenever there was ball movement on offense, he would occasionally move around, but he just hovered around a segment of the arc most of the time. He rarely spent any time inside the three-point arc.

Bonus: The Syracuse fans that I've sat around kept saying things like "There's no way he's going to get drafted in the first round like they say he will" and "he's not that great of a guy we were told."

I was excited about the strength Jordy showed in being able to basically break a 6'9' 225 lb man. That showed impressive "farm strength" and going forward that will be nice a nice foundation to build on for Jordy.

Also, Jordy had about as much malicious intent as the kid that face raked Evan that the officials swallowed their whistle on.
