OWH article said if we sweep/win the Michigan series we are close to being a lock. If we lose the Michigan series we will need to do some work in the BTT. If we get swept we have to win the BTT.
-
I heard it on a podcast 3-4 weeks ago and reading it in the OWH this morning refreshed me on it. It was either pick six or half court press podcast.
-
I have heard he is extremely athletic and has very good leaping ability plus like a 6'9-6'10 wing span. Hoiberg also said he likes the foundation of his shot even though he didnt showcase it a lot. I could see him being a significant bench piece in the future and is atleast worth a shot at developing. Best case scenario is hes that versatile defender who can lock down 1-4, hits open threes, and puts a few people on poster during his time here.

Havent seen this posted yet so i thought i would share. According to sources, Roby has a hard time focusing on school AND basketball. When he was excelling in one the other dipped in performance. He is looking forward to being able to just focus on basketball if the right opportunity presents itself. I heard this on a podcast a few weeks ago and just read it in an article last night.

And if my interpretation of the rules/scenario are completely wrong then please correct me!

I dont mind that one as much bc its equal for the transfer and the true redshirt. Shamiel Stevenson still gets his half year (and probably whole year back) bc he quit the team and changed schools. Whereas, say a freshman was being redshirted by his coach but gets thrown in to playing time the second half of the season bc of injuries to the team. That player loses the a whole .5+ season that he already redshirted no matter what. So the rule in basketball Shamiel Stevenson gets 4+ years to play bc he quit and transferred whereas the hypothetical players gets less than 3.5. Now im not knocking Shamiel at all just using that as an example to explain why I think the rule doesnt make sense. In football you can you it as a transfer loophole too, but you can also use it to play 4+ seasons at one school.

How long will it take us to hit stride?
khoock replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I could definitely see 2020-21 being a huge year for us. Dachon, Jervay, and Cam will have a whole season under their belts (a season where all three will probably log heavy minutes). Also a young front court of Arop, Cross, and Ouedraogo will all have had a year for Hoiberg to shape their body and play to how they envision them. Plus Stevenson and Banton. 2019-2020 could be good depending on how everyone mixes together and how ready our freshmen trio of forwards are to play. -
Thanks for some clarification @jayschool on the rule. Seems like a silly rule that is very in favor of the transfer. Not that it matters to Stevenson's situation, but the year Tanner Borchardt wasted a year of eligibility for 1 min he was not with the team the entire season. He and Trueblood joined mid season (even second semester I wanna say). The only difference is Borchardt played 1 min while Trueblood never played. Which is why Trueblood still had a year left if he wanted to use it, while Borchardt did not. But I dont wanna muck up Stevenson's thread with discussion on how the NCAAs rules make no sense. Like i said, Stevenson for 3 years >>>

Eligibility doesnt work in half years tho. You cant play half a season eight different times and say thats your four years. He played basketball is sophomore year of eligibility so unless they get a waiver (bc it was only 4 games and 30ish minutes) he exhausted his sophomore year of eligibility. Similiar to Tanner Borchardt. He played one minute his sophomore year in the second half of the season. He did not magically have a half semester of eligibility left just bc he did not play in the first half of the season that sophomore year.
-
My guess is Arop. You have Kavas/Stevenson to play the four and Cross/Ouedraogo to the play the 5. If Roby is back he could play either.

Kendall Lewis recently committed else where

Thats what everyone seems to think. I just dont understand the logic behind it, which isnt surprising because the NCAA isnt always the most logical organization. I get he only played 4 games his sophomore year and only played 30ish minutes but he still played and then chose to leave bc he wasnt playing as much as the year before or as much as he thought he would. If you are able to play part of a year, transfer because you decide you dont like how much you are playing, and not have to worry about losing that year of eligibility then why dont more players do it? But hey, I would love for my misunderstanding of the NCAA to be completely wrong bc 3 years >>> 2 years.

The roster is starting to take shape. Only one scholarship left at the moment! In my free time I have been trying to piece together the roster and sort out roles. I know maybe its a little early but i cant help myself. My question for some of you on here is, how is Thorir's shot? We all know the percentages werent amazing but why? Does he have poor mechanics? Does he not get it off fast enough or enough lift in his jump shot? Is he just lacking confidence/consistency? Thanks.

Landed a WR Grad Transfer from Cal over the weekend. 1200+ career yards
-
Bump up to an A. In the past 4 or 5 days we added three guys that were 240+. That is the only thing i felt we were missing. A+, for me, would mean we land a proven 4/5 guy.
-
Now at this point my biggest wish is we somehow get Roby back. Not likely, but maybe he starts feeling some of the Hoiberg magic. We can only hope.
-
I think the most likely scenario is we get him eligible for the start of the season but he only has two years of eligibility left. I remember Copeland was able to get a year back as well as immediate eligibility. But his case was something along the lines of Georgetown played him his junior year when he wasnt entirely healthy. I dont know what Stevenson's argument would be. He decided to transfer during the season bc of playing time. Idk if you get waivers for that or else a lot more athletes would do it.
-
I am as well. Didnt think we would take both. That puts us at three freshmen forwards for this class. One of the three will have to redshirt im sure.
-
Not sure how Thor fits in. Prob at the 3 and 4 spots for depth. Could be a wild card if Hoiberg can help him get a consistent jumper!
-
I dont have names but I would like a grad transfer gaurd. Doesnt have to be a super star but someone who can give us quality depth. Also a grad transfer 4/5 man. The quality depends on if we have Roby or not. If Roby is gone, hes gotta be able to play. If he is back, a Duby Okeke type player would do. If we have an open ship for Roby I would like to see us snag a good sit out transfer or just sit on it.
